  • Perfect Cottage in Wales!
    5 of 5

We had a great 4 night stay in Nos Da Cottage, and our only regret is we didn't have 1 or 2 more nights! Steve and Sue are wonderful hosts, and they are incredibly generous with their "Welcome Hamper" (they give you an amazing amount of food!) There was even a beautiful arrangement of fresh flowers in the cottage when we arrived. Steve and Sue live in the Rectory, a house that is several hundred yards from Nos Da. Guests have complete privacy in the cottage while also knowing the owners are close by to answer any questions or concerns. Steve filled us in on some local history and told us about a few historical sites to visit that are just a few steps from the cottage: an historical church and churchyard, as well as former sites of a Roman fort and a castle/tollhouse. As far as the cottage itself, it was truly a perfect spot for us to end our 18 day tour around Wales. Steve and Sue have thought of every amenity when putting together Nos Da. The cottage has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms so it could work well for 4 people, but we felt it also worked well for us as a couple who just wished to have a bit of extra space. The finishes, as well as the furnishings are very high end. Just a few amenities include: great lighting throughout (& lots of windows that actually open), radiant heat floors, heated towel racks, a glass shower in one bathroom and a tub with handheld shower in the other, a full size washer and dryer, a wall mounted large screen television with a full variety of channels, a compact but fully equipped kitchen, a wood stove for colder nights, and plenty of hot water! The beds are very comfortable and the bed and bath linens are of the highest quality. They offer full size Crabtree and Evelyn toiletries in both bathrooms. A glass door wall of the living area opens onto a large flagstone patio that offers a second living space in nice weather. The location of the cottage is well situated for touring this region of Wales. There is easy access to the M4 so day trips to Swansea, Cardiff, Llantwit Major, Caerphilly, Newport, and even Brecon Beacons are quite doable. The old market village of Cowbridge is just down the road and offers not only some great restaurants, but the nicest Waitrose Grocery Market we saw in all of Wales. Steve and Sue were wonderful to work with and can offer lots of information about things to see and do in the area. Without hesitation we highly recommend the Nos Da cottage at the Rectory!
