My mother, husband and I had a very nice stay at The Dash. It's wonderfully quiet, charming and remote. The views are prototypical picture postcard Cumbrian expanses of rocks, cliffs, lakes and grazing sheep; one can even see the Irish Sea on a clear day. A highlight of our afternoons was the chickens and rooster pecking at the kitchen window, asking for a snack. As to the amenities, we found most of them suitable. However, the kitchen lacked proper pots, pans and good sharp knives. The coffee-maker was on death's door, so we donated a new one, as well as a good chef's knife. We also had to do a bit of cleaning in the kitchen, upon arrival. The seams between the floor stones were full of hair and debris, and the counter-tops were a bit sticky. A bit of touch-up dusting and vaccuuming around the rest of the house could have helped as well. Also, I realize this summer was an unusual one for England, both in temperature and insect populations, but the house desperately needs some window screens. We suffered a constant plague of houseflies during our stay. Unfortunately, I have to say this to almost every HomeAway or AirBnB host, but please invest in some high quality linens, pillows, mattresses and bed-frames. They make ALL the difference in one's memory of a property. The Dash's were acceptable but not great.
