  • A lovely place to stay in Wales

Ty Coed which means Wooden House as explained by Rosemary, is certainly a most welcoming little place one can get in the countryside. It is equipped with all the necessary amenities and more. We were four and we never felt cramped. It was always nice and warm when we got back from our numerous outings. Rosemary made us feel very welcome and often checked to see whether we were lacking in anything. The Chalet is well positioned to be quite near a few pubs which also serve good food. We made full use of that ! The distance to various places of interest was short and so extremely convenient. Coming from abroad we absolutely loved the view from the terrace and windows as well as the tranquil scene of the sheep grazing around the area. We were blessed with good weather and the sunsets were amazing. All in all we were very happy with the house and certainly recommend it to others.

  • Panoramic views of the Welsh Marches, great walks, cozy cottage, everything terrific

Four of us sisters stayed here for a week in early May to celebrate a birthday. We found it to be the perfect, traditional cottage we were looking for: comfortable beds, well-stocked kitchen, lots of period charm, nothing too modern, warm fireplace stocked with lots of wood and coal. Add to that the stunning views—simply incomparable—and we had a place we didn’t want to leave. We explored Montgomery and its castle, visited Bunner’s store, had a cream tea at the Joy Cafe (excellent!), toured Powis Castle, climbed the ruins of Dolforwyn Castle, and visited Devil’s Bridge and Strata Florida—all within easy driving distance. The small lane that leads to Pencaenion land is scarcely traveled, and gunning our car up the long, winding driveway to the cottage produced shrieks and cries of terror from the back seat (though on subsequent days they got very used to the steep climb). We appreciated the option to have bedding supplied, as we were coming from overseas. The property is obviously well cared for and loved. We felt it a privilege to be able to stay, and were doubly grateful for record-breaking warm, sunny weather. We would be glad to return at any time. Jenny was quick to respond to any questions and was a great hostess.
