  • Very comfortable barn conversion in a beautiful setting
    4 of 5

We loved Fred's Shed - the conversion of the former cowshed has been done in a quirky but comfortable way. It's full of repurposed materials (kitchen counter built from old pallets, etc.) and cute touches (loved the bottle cap shower!). The setting is lovely, overlooking the valley and mountains. The rooms are spacious and just about anything you might need is provided. Just make sure you have the step-by-step directions they will send you - you would never find this place without them, yet it's only 5 minutes from the highway once you know the way. One caveat - if you require electronic connectivity, this may not be the place for you. Cellular coverage is spotty, especially inside the apartment (thick walls!), and though "wifi" is available, it rarely connected to the Internet. It's understandable in such a rural setting, but something potential customers should be aware of. Lack of Internet was a bit of a big deal for us, since that's how we manage and plan most things these days. One other minor quibble - there is a washer, but it's not a combo washer/dryer. There was no clothes drying rack or clothesline (not that the climate is all that amenable to outdoor drying anyway). A drying rack would have been a big help.

Everything worked fine, except the internet, which could not be reached from the local network Everything else was good.
