The cottage itself was very cute inside with everything we needed and well taken care of. There was plenty of space for our party of five. The kids enjoyed playing with Doug, their friendly dog, in the nice front yard.
We were a little disappointed that we chose a farm for a quiet atmosphere and the property ended up being right near the highway. There was a lot of highway traffic noise most of the time. It took away from the country feel we were hoping for. I had also chosen the farm so the kids could interact with animals and see how farm life worked. Understandably, this wasn't allowed, I just wish I had asked about that before booking. There are cows on the property and we enjoyed seeing them each time we came and went. Just keep in mind that there will also be a smell to accompany the cattle farm experience.
The location was centrally located to the things we wanted to see in the area, within an hour and a half were many big attractions such as Stonehenge, Oxford University, London etc. We enjoyed the cottage. Suzanne was a lovely host and very responsive to any questions that came up. She met us and showed us around when we arrived and also left us some starter groceries such as some milk and bread, which was very appreciated.
We stayed at the Compton Cottage for 8.5 weeks this past summer. The cottage was more than comfortable for our family of five and holds a special place in our hearts! The owners are incredible hosts. The responded quickly if there was ever something that we needed, including lending me a cupcake tray for my baking needs. The yard was perfect for leisurely reading amidst beautiful flower gardens, bouncing to your hearts content on the trampoline or sipping a glass of wine at the garden table. There are public footpaths and two pubs within walking distance as well. We are so thankful for our time spent here, and for the owners to open up this cottage to our family. We recommend staying here without any reservation!
