As the other reviews have said, you really need a Jeep to get to this villa. But it's worth it! The view is gorgeous, the villa is cozy, comfortable, and very private. We had no problems with water or electricity during our stay. Any small issues or questions that arose were addressed by Max immediately. We had a wonderful stay!
We had a great time at Villa Amour! We had 6 people; 2 couples and 2 singles. Everyone had their own bedroom with A/C and a private bathroom. Note: only bedrooms had A/C. Each upstairs bedroom had a small, private balcony which was great for seeing the sunrise! The kitchen was HUGE and had everything we could have needed and more. Usually kitchens are stocked pretty poorly so I was impressed that we had every pot, pan, bowl and utensil that we needed. Rick, the owner, even provided us with basic spices (salt, pepper, a variety of seasonings), plenty of garbage bags and aluminum foil. That was a pleasant surprise! Rick lives onsite so he popped by a couple times to see if we needed anything, which was very kind of him. He was very helpful with providing recommendations. Rick also provides snorkel equipment-there was plenty for all of us!
The pool was AMAZING! I, personally, enjoyed a morning swim every day before everyone else woke up. The infinity edge portion of the pool also has a ledge that you can stand on in order to enjoy the view of the turquoise waters! The hot tub was clean and, although it was too warm for me, our group really enjoyed it!
The glass wall that folded up to create a full outdoor living space was one of my favorite features of the house. We spent more time on the outdoor covered patio and in the pool are than anywhere else in the house. The fans helped to keep us comfortable while outside in the heat and humidity.
The property is located near Magen's Bay so it's about a 25 minute drive into Charlotte Amalie and a bit longer to get to Red Hook. This wasn't an issue for us because we REALLY enjoyed the seclusion of the house and appreciated the fact that we weren't right on top of other houses. Additionally, the views from our area were a LOT prettier than if we'd rented in Charlotte Amalie. It truly felt like we had total privacy!
I can truly only think of 2 cons to this property:
1) The road to get to the house is VERY bumpy (and steep). So I can imagine that it would be a rough trip for people with back problems or anyone who is physically frail. I personally got a kick out of driving it but it was definitely rough terrain!
2) The upper bedrooms don't have curtains on the windows that face the ocean so the sunrise woke us up by 6am every day. There were a few days that I would have liked to get a bit more sleep. This was a pretty minor thing though.
I would absolutely rent this house again! It was truly AMAZING!
