7. San Juan Islands

The San Juan Islands in Washington state are the perfect boating destination for whale watching and sea kayaking. Located just an hour and a half north of Seattle, the more than 700 islands that make up the San Jaun chain provide amazing scenery. The islands are protected and have hundreds of harbors and docks, making it an ideal place for a boating vacation.

Lake Mead near Boulder City, Nevada is the largest reservoir in the U.S., formed by the magnificent Hoover Dam. The lake spans 112 miles and has nine access points and five marinas.
