A simply beautiful 4-bedroom detached property set in the idyllic Country Village of Wilton, just on the outskirts of Egremont and breathtaking Lake Ennerdale. The property’s central location is a perfect base for visiting the Western Lake District. Surrounded by so many areas of natural beauty nearby from Eskdale, Ravensglass to Lake Wasdale and Buttermere to the quaint Seaside Village of St Bees. This country retreat offers space, luxury and comfort all under one roof.
Perfectly situated this property offers amazing walking and cycling from your door.
Why not get on your bike and follow some of the C2C cycle routes out to the coast?
Alternatively take in one of the mighty peaks of the Ennerdale Valley or the gentler walk around the lake on foot? The Lamplugh Fells and Cogra Moss also make great family walks.
You could head out to explore the maritime history of Whitehaven, a Georgian harbour town on the west coast or enjoy a birdwatching beach and cliff walk at St Bees.
Cumbria Karting Club’s Lakeland Circuit is just nearby. You could visit just to watch a race or get involved in one of their “Let’s go Karting” events.
The property is very central and in close driving proximity to many areas of natural beauty and tourism hot spots; Lake Ennerdale, Buttermere, Wasdale, Cogra Moss....
Other areas of interest to visit locally would be the old Roman port of Ravenglass; this quaint village which sits on the estuary of three rivers and once a Roman naval settlement has a truly nostalgic feel. I really do love this place!
Ravenglass is also home to the L’al Ratty railway which is fab for kids and adults alike, you can ride the ‘Thomas the tank’ style train to Eskdale (7 mile track). Reputedly the most beautiful train journey in England!
Muncaster Castle is a mile from Ravenglass and well worth a visit... a nice family trip out. I must admit it has some of the most beautiful gardens and views I have ever seen.
Eskdale is a walkers paradise with magical finds round every turn. Also the setting of the film ‘She’ll be wearing pink pyjamas’ remember the scene when Julie Walters jumps of the bridge for a liberating swim!
For a day at the seaside I would recommend two places - Seascale and St Bees beach....
Seascale is the quieter of the two beaches with a fab new adventure play park and separate bike track. Not to miss a trip to Mawsons Ice Cream parlour (you must try the kendal mint cake flavour ice cream!)
St. Bees beach is lovely especially when the tide is out-with it’s rock pools, cliff top walks and great pubs. It also has a new play park and beachside cafe for that well earned cuppa!
For a spot of shopping you can visit the Georgian harbour town of Whitehaven - only 7 miles by car. The town is home to the tall ships and has a spectacular harbour. Whitehaven has several tourismy spots to explore such as ‘The Beacon Museum’ and ‘The Rum Story’.
For a bit of food shopping you will find both a Tesco and Morrisons in town.
Egremont market town is just 2 miles down the road, it has a Co op supermarket for those stock up essentials if you don’t want to travel too far.
