Weekend Getaway
This house was very spacious for 4 adult couples - extra large cozy living room and good-sized dining room with large table and kitchen with all the tools you would need. There is also a large vestibule just inside the front door as well as a large covered area outside the front door, which is convenient.
The house was designed beautifully to be oriented to face the amazing mountain views, but note that it is overall dated - hence, they call it "The 70s House." The mattresses are updated to memory foam, however.
We had a great stay, but here are a few notes to be aware of:
(1) 2 BRs and 1 BA upstairs are accessed via a spiral staircase only;
(2) the 1st floor BA has a plastic accordion door;
(3) there are no blinds for the master BR skylight (but you can see the stars at night!); and
(4) bring your own firewood for the wood stoves.
Location is great - convenient to Burke Mountain and Lake Willoughby. No complaints with reservation or check-in, and property manager contacted us to see if we needed anything once we got there.
Wedding adventure!
We had a wonderful weekend! This property was absolutely the best for our family visit! Thank you!
Perfect
Great house, fit all our needs! Owner always checked in to make sure we were comfortable and needed anything. Very welcoming! Thank you!

We had a great weekend! Thank you!
Great views!
We stayed at "That 70's House", which by the way, is a great name for the place, for the weekend of my daughter's wedding. The set up of it's bedrooms, were perfect for what we needed. Couple of suggestions would be that the master should have a king size, or at least a queen size bed, and better mattress, and the bathroom on the first floor, near the front door, should have a real door on it, with a lock, not a plastic sliding door.
Other than that, the rest of the house was great. Great views, large family room, large table, and kitchen amenities.
I would definitely recommend to anyone needing to stay near Burke Mtn.
Big house, plenty of space but a little worn down
Plenty of room for big families. Lots of space and unique environment of owners interest in ecology. Beautiful views of the moutains and outside property was spacious and beautiful, however the house upkeep needs attention. Stained ceilings, worn rugs, flies. Some beds need new mattresses. Living room was the best thing about the house.
Hi Jane,
While I am happy that you had a great time at the 70's house, I am at the same time saddened that you did not find it in perfect condition. In just the last few years, we have replaced the roof, all the siding on the entire house, replaced most of the windows and done a lot of work in renovations to the interior as well. I am making it a point to travel up to Vermont in the next week or two to check out the issues with any staining that might be on the ceiling or mattresses that may not be up to new standards. I know that we replaced three mattresses last year.
Be that as it may, we take very seriously the maintenance and conditions of our vacation rental homes and we will make every effort to rectify any deficiencies immediately. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.
Warm Regards,
Fred Dodd
