Wonderful Apartment on Beach Front
This apartment suited us perfectly for the last week in September. Although there was a lot of activity for the horse festival on the weekend generally this was a peaceful location given it's location on the front.
The balcony is the real appeal as it benefits from the sun all day long, so when we came up from the beach, there was still the benefit of the sunshine.
The apartment is small and well furnished, perfect for a couple. We liked the comfortable bed, large walk in wardrobe for clothes and the powerful shower.
Overall we enjoyed our stay and all that Cala enPorter had to offer.
Thank you Karen for your perfect description. It is always good to know that even outside peak season , Binimarina is a sunny location of Cala en Porter. The terrace overlooking sea and countryside offers a safe refuge even from Winter winds. You are the most welcome anytime.
Amazing view from Balcony
My wife and I really enjoyed our stay. Sitting on the balcony, eating and drinking with the amazing view made our holiday. The apartment was spotlessly clean and had everting we needed. It was also surprisingly cool inside, considering the hot weather. We’d definitely consider coming back.
Thank you Mark for your comments. We are always trying to prepare the apartment in the best way and make our guests feel like arriving home. It has been a pleasure having you and your wife, and you are welcome back at Binimarina anytime.
We loved our holiday here and couldn't fault anything! The view from the balcony was marvellous and the apartment itself was very clean and extremely well equipped. We particularly liked the change of bed linen and towels after a week. The photos are a true representation. Contact with the owner was great, emails answered super quickly. The town itself has everything you could need. Menorca is a beautiful island, we hired a car and visited many lovely places. Totally recommended!
Thank you Anne for having been lovely guests. We like to provide a change of bedlinen and towels after one week: it seems like a new start of the holiday!
Great spot. Well equipped. Lovely view of Cala from terrace.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Carrying luggage up 88 stairs was a bit intimidating for us 72 year-olds. Sitting on the terrace overlooking the Cala in the evening was delightful. Location is great for accessing other parts of the island. I would recommend having a flashlight handy for after-dark arrivals, because the stairway was dark at 11:00 PM. It was lovely to find two beers and a bottle of wine in the fridge when we arrived after a long day of travel.
Thank you for your kind comments. Cala en Porter is a wonderful village, but as you have probably noted, the village is in a very high position on top of the cliff. I know the steps might be challenging , that is why we put this very clear in the description. It is also what will guarantee the stunning view of the Mediterranean and the countryside on the back of the beach that you can enjoy from Binimarina. We always like to greet our guests with a welcome kit when they are arriving: thank you also for having noted this. I suppose the stairways were dark because when you visited it was already an out-of-season period, as during the Summer they are always on. If you do not have a smartphone with you, it is a very good suggestion to have a flashlight handy.
My mam and I stayed in this apartment for a week as a treat for my 30th birthday and we were blown away by the stunning views on the balcony. The apartment is in a perfect location less then five mins to the beach and the same Upto the bars and restaurants. My mam and I both loved relaxing on the gorgeous beach which was very quiet and and swimming quite far out in the crystal clear sea. The apartment is very homely and well equipped for people of all ages. We particularly liked the big walk in wardrobe and there was plenty of space for the two of us. We visited the cave bar/ nightclub and have to say was fantastic definitely worth a look, we walked there and you get some great views from the top ideal for a picture moment. I would also recommend the restaurant El Pulpo lush food we ended up going three times! Will definitely be back at some point only negative would be all those steps which can be quite hard in the heat of the day! Worth it for the view though!
Thank you very much for the precious tips on Cala en Porter. Steps could be exhausting but as you pointed out the view from the terrace is fantastic. I like particularly the stunning contrast between Mediterranean blue and deep green of the untouched cliff at the right side of Binimarina.
Great place for a couple to spend time together
We have just stayed at Binimarina for the first week of the summer season.
The apartment itself: well-laid out including a spacious walk-in wardrobe, comfortable bed, all utensils anyone would need are in the kitchen, large fridge and freezer, powerful shower - it is an easy place to feel at ease. Top marks go to the south facing balcony with sun from about 9 in the morning until it set at about 8pm, providing a great view of the beach and sea. On the days we stayed local we didn't go anywhere else for lunch - we had exactly what we wanted to eat and drink because we had bought it in a nearby supermarket and took it out of the fridge, and we had a stunning view that was far better than from most bars and restaurants.
The beach: the breeze that sometimes blows down the valley to the beach can whip up the fine sand and we saw clouds of it blowing in the air. The sea was still cold and not many people went in for long, though it will only improve through the summer months. The pedalloes had arrived and sea kayaking trips had started so there were activities available on the sea, not just in it.
The local area: we weren't quite prepared for such a strong UK ex-pat community. There was no shortage of English football and even horse racing on screens in bars, with plenty of fish and chips, chicken and chips, meat pie and chips, and even saw a woman eat spaghetti bolognese and chips! If it's what you fancy then Pito's is good value, with friendly service and a warm atmosphere. Its take-away pizza service is poplar with locals and holidaymakers alike. The restaurant in the castle has chefs from Galicia and provides more authentic Spanish meals. Can't say too much else about the range of bars and restaurants because it was so early in the season that some had not yet opened, and some that had were rather short of customers and the lack of any atmosphere was unappealing.
Further afield, trips to Mahon (take a bus from the top of the steps that go to the beach) and Cuitadella (either a two hour stop on a day trip of the island bookable at the Spar supermarket, or hire a car) gave us much more of a Spanish experience and are worth the effort. The walking trails are well signposted and provide quality time in a natural environment.
Overall, we had a great time. Everything you need is within a few minutes’ walk. Binimarina is a wonderful place for a couple to spend time together with a balcony view that's normally the preserve of luxury hotels.
Clive, thank you very much for giving so many useful informations about Binimarina and Cala'n Porter. I particularly loved your comment about the balcony's view!
Menorca Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO for almost twenty years, is a wild island and unusual. A short distance from the university town of Alaior, Cala en Porter is enclosed within the ancient cliffs Esclafat and Ponent. The beach is white - a cove shaped conchiglia- deep blue sea.
And all around, lush Mediterranean vegetation, naturally protected from the north wind.
A beautiful quiet sea creek, fine sand and drifting backwater offer optimal conditions for swimming. The village is not very big, a 20-minute walk you can cross, but offers a great selection of bars, restaurants and shops. A staircase leads from the top of the village to the beach, which can be accessed by car. Paseig Maritim can only be reached by car until 14:00.
On the side of Cala en Porter is the evocative Talaia de ses Penyes, built on cliffs that reach up to 68 meters high. Nearby the Cova d'en Xoroi, spectacular local created inside a natural cave overlooking the sea: hosts the most popular disco in Menorca, but also opens the aperitif, in time for a sunset that often allows to see the sea to Mallorca.
