Comfortable, well-equipped in a beautiful rural setting
I spent six days here with my husband and one year old daughter. The owners were so kind and helpful! They had a baby bed for us to use, and it was great having a washing machine and well stocked kitchen. The place is very clean and comfortable, and the surrounding area is lovely. We enjoyed several hikes, beautiful scenery, small villages, wine tasting, and day trips to Lagrasse, Foix, and Carcassonne. We were a little unprepared for how far away we would be from the nearest grocery stores and restaurants. We arrived on a Saturday evening after driving from Spain and the grocery stores were all closed. It was a 30-40 minute drive often on winding roads to get to Carcassonne or Limous, and it was challenging to find places that weren't closed. Perhaps this was because we were there before the peak summer season. We ended up cooking most of our meals in the cottage, enjoying the delicious bread from the local baker. Once we got settled in, this ended up working out great for us. We were a little caught off guard the day before we left when we were told that we could clean the place ourselves or pay a cleaning fee. I would have preferred to have had the cleaning fee already included in the rental price. All in all, we loved our time here. If you are seeking a beautiful place that is off the beaten path and non-touristy, we highly recommend it!

lovely stay in the country
What a beautiful gite and village we found, and helpful hosts. The 2 rooms are very modern and functional. We hiked a small ways on the nearby hiking trail which was very lovely. It is a bit of a winding trip from the main roads to this village. Would not recommend doing it at night or without GPS.

Lovely new appartment, in a peaceful environment
Great newly constructed appartment. Amazing view over the valley with a sunstruck terrace, perfect for any meal! Warm welcome from the owners who explained us all about the surroundings and even brought us croissants and homemade 'confiture'. Even the baker comes to the village in the morning for fresh baguettes and pain au chocolate. Carcassonne and other great touristic places only 20-30 minutes away by car (which is recommendable to rent). Great value for the price, recommended to those who enjoy an active sightseeing holiday and peaceful evenings. Merci beaucoup!

Jean marc and Laurence, who have owned the pré des Jacques for 25 years, welcome your on their 3000 m2 property. Laurence is a choreographer but is also passionate about gardening and her botanical garden and vegetable garden are organic. She is searching for harmony with the help of her husband, who is master craftsman:
he is very resourceful when it comes to construction and built the buildings and the terraces by combining modern architecture and stones...
Both of them are culture enthusiasts and combine the richness of this land's heritage with their more contemporary ideas.
They will give you great ideas to discover the land away from the usual tourist areas.

Why they chose this property

Around 1980, they decided to settle down in Aude and to build their house as well as to express their jobs...They have three children and it was love at first sight with the valley. After raising their children, they decided to build an independent rental building to share with people who, just like themselves come from somewhere else, the quality of life in this valley...Conviviality is the emblem of this house...

What makes this property unique

The property is very comfortable, terraces, swimming pool, garden...Everything is full of details and beauty...The property was built on the hillside, with a terraced arrangement, surrounded by low wall stones, facing south and shaded in summer...really relaxing and far from the noises, this place is perfect to recharge your batteries...
The villagers are very welcoming with the visitors who take part in the local festivals in summer and in the Christmas markets in winter...
