Why George Crist chose Hancock
I recently purchased this home to be enjoyed by you as a vacation rental. I chose this home and the location because after spending significant time in the area, I felt that this was the ideal location to be conveniently located to Acadia, but also close to the practical things you will need for your family during your stay. Incidentally, Acadia has two distinct areas...the Mount Desert side that everyone visits, but also the less-visited Schoodic Peninsula area and Winter Harbor.
What makes this House unique
This home is located right where it should be for enjoying all things in the Acadia and Bar Harbor area. Hancock and Ellsworth are beautiful little towns that offer charm, but also the practical things you will need for your stay such as real grocery stores. You'll find some really nice boutique grocery stores on Mount Desert Island, but the prices are super high and let's face it, you're here for a vacation that doesn't require a second mortgage.

I live 10 minutes away and my family came for a reunion The plan was to have big meals at my house and accommodations at the VRBO. Big storm-no power at my house. Thank god for the VRBO fully equipped for making dinner for all of us. Can’t say enough good things about this house and its management. Put it top of your list if you’re coming to Maine
Great Vacation Home
This home has everything - many conveniences, a fabulous location and view, and very comfortable furnishings. We had a thoroughly enjoyable vacation!
The house was nice for four couples. Two couples had bunk beds but the lower beds were big enough for two.
The upstairs shower could use some new caulk but otherwise everything was clean and updated.
The kitchen was well stocked enough though we didn't actually prepare many meals.
The equipment for our lobster boil worked great once we figured it out though we needed to go buy propane as two of the tanks were empty.
The location was great for going to Acadia and also for going to the Schoodic Peninsula (highly recommended).
Overall it was a very enjoyable time and I would recommend this house to others.
Fantastic property. Wonderfully remote, but still accessible to Acadia. We spent just as much time relaxing in the home as we did exploring the area.
Amazing Coastal Maine Retreat!
This absolutely immaculate home makes you want to move in...and stay...forever! Featuring exposed post and beam construction, lovingly decorated in Downeast Maine carved birds and art, with water views from nearly every window, it's better than a dream! If your a fan of cooking, you're all set. It's the best equipped kitchen I've ever seen in a vacation rental. Bikes and kayaks are available for you pleasure...make sure to kayak out to the nearby island for a view of the bald eagles roosting there. If you are less active but still want to enjoy Maine seacoast, set a spell on the Adirondack chairs perfectly positioned to look out over the cove. Enjoy outdoors on the deck (equipped with an excellent gas grill) or in the basement which features your very own movie theater. If you bring enough groceries, there is no reason to leave the property, but you'll want to anyone to explore nearby Acadia and the town of Ellsworth and to enjoy the local lobsters!
This is an idyllic property conveniently located to Acadia Kayaks were a bonus
