Location, location, location!
There are many great things to say about the Beach Retreat and the property owner, Angeline. It was ideal for our needs and offered lots of adventure: daily walks--romps for our Golden!--on the beach; weekend post-walk breakfasts at Devil's Teeth bakery, Java Beach Cafe, Andytown Coffee; walkable dinner destinations like Underdogs Too (and craft cocktails at White Cap next door!!); exploring the bodegas and shops nearby, not to mention Golden Gate Park and Lands End. Angeline was responsive and accommodating; an excellent host. A few tips: *Gus's/Noriega Produce gets their coffee beans from Andytown and sells for a lower price. EXCELLENT coffee. *Did I mention White Cap craft cocktails on Taraval? ;-) *We bought some cleaning supplies and paper goods, as they were lacking. But the apartment is well-supplied otherwise. *The Preschool behind the apt. is noisy during the day, which could be annoying if you're trying to telework. Bring headphones. *If the people in the apartment above are not sensitive to apartment living, the noise from above can be disturbing. We had mostly very considerate neighbors above for the six weeks we were there, but there was one set of teenagers (for only two nights, thankfully!) that made our lives miserable, noise-wise. Overall, a great place to stay!!

Fabulous location In SF, just a few blocks from both the beach & the Golden Gate Park.
Very comfortable apartment. Good light in living room and bedroom despite ground floor apartment. Only kitchen is without window. There is a daycare right behind house which is a bit noisy during the day. Otherwise very quiet. Upstairs tenants did not wear shoes so minimal noise from apartment above. Manager very responsive and helpful.

Inadequate even at this price
Arrival was underwhelming with stark, unadorned and dark basement premise. No heater or central source of heat which required a call to the owner., Space heaters provided. Cleanliness not adequate with soiled rug and stove; no provision of toilet paper or cleaning products. Furniture is uncomfortable, though bed was okay, Upstairs tenants were disturbed by playing radio. Unit was advertised including Netlix, but this expired after a few days. Verizon cell phone reception was weak, and sporadic Positives: garage parking and laundry in garage

An Affordable Pet Friendly Option Near Ocean Beach & Transit
I rented this apartment for my parents who were visiting me for a month. The proximity to Ocean Beach, restaurants, and the N line is excellent. The apartment has a queen bed, a great yard (no grill), and a good sized living room. There is WiFi and a TV with antenna & a Roku with streaming apps. The kitchen is small but updated, and there is a nice bathroom, an attached garage with a parking space & free washer/dryer (shared with above unit) which are very convenient. The kitchen was initially missing a lot of basics that are typically standard in furnished rentals (food storage containers, vegetable peeler, pasta strainer, etc.). I contacted the owner and she did have her handyman come provide these items (taken from the unit upstairs so hopefully they will be restocked). FYI: The only way to enter the apartment is through the keypad to the garage. One night the garage door would not open and my parents could not get into the apartment. Thankfully the handyman responded quickly and replaced the batteries in the keypad. He also then gave my parents a garage door opener - this should have been provided upon check-in. I suggest you request this from the owner prior to check-in as it does not appear to be standard per her welcome email, though should be as clearly the key pad can fail. Additionally I would suggest asking the owner: how to get into the unit if the backup garage door opener fails and the fire escape routes as it appears the only one is out through the garage. (There is no way to exit the yard to the street and the door to the upstairs unit is locked.) Overall though, I would recommend this property and would rent it again.
