Rooftop Aerie was designed to offer the comforts of home while feeling like a tranquil vacation spot. It was completely remodeled in 2017 and used only as a guest house.
The large, 3 bedrooms and 2.25 bathroom home offers a fully-stocked kitchen (blender, juicer, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, dishes for 8, etc.) and breakfast nook. There is ample cookware to meet the needs of even the most ambitious cook. The living room and formal dining room allow guests a spectacular view of the garden and valley. Enjoy the plushy leather couch in front of the cozy stove. Rooftop Aerie is heated and cooled with a geothermal system, which is one of the most eco-friendly systems. The propane stove is perfect if you need just a bit more warmth in the cool evenings.
Located at the top of the hill on 10 acres, Roofop Aerie includes a huge lawn in front as well as majestic cedars and hemlock. The 180 degree view is breathtaking. Watch the sun rise over the Monroe valley and the Cascade Mountains beyond. You can even see the majestic Mt. Baker to the north. The three rivers (Snohomish, Snoqualmie, and Skykomish) meet at the bottom of the hill. The gardens surrounding the house include flowers that attract hummingbirds and butterflies. Enjoy picking your own blueberries, raspberries and strawberries. Read a book on back porch. Sit under the cedar trees and just dream. The vast lawn is perfect or bocce ball, lawn Yahtzee, Frisbee or horseshoes.
Rooftop Aerie is located near Woodinville, which offers many wineries and even some boutique distilleries. The area offers numerous farmer's markets featuring locally grown produce from spring to late fall. The nearby historic town of Snohomish is famous for its antique stores and charming riverfront shops and pubs. Go shopping in Bellevue (30 minutes). Or, enjoy world-class entertainment, food and museums in Seattle. Don't miss Pike's Place Market, the Museum of Flight, or Experience Music Project. Take a tour of the waterfront, Seattle Underground, or the houseboats on Lake Union. And, ride the ferries across Puget Sound to explore the Olympic Pennisula and numerous islands. Our area also boasts some of the best road and mountain biking opportunities. We have numerous golf courses nearby (just ask John, he has golfed them all!). In the fall, salmon run the rivers, attracting anglers from around the world. Our Snohomish airport offers stunning hot air balloons (that float over Rooftop Aerie all summer) and the opportunity to sky-dive (yikes). Hiking and rock climbing opportunities are plentiful. Or you can rent canoes, kayaks and even small sailboats and enjoy Lake Washington from the water.
Then return to the tranquil beauty of your mountaintop retreat, Rooftop Aerie. Sit on the deck with a glass of lemonade (or your favorite cocktail) and watch the sun set over the valley.
John and Susan are the proud owners of Rooftop Aerie. They live in a separate house on the property. Susan does all of the gardening and John does the general maintenance. John works at Microsoft at the Redmond campus. Susan is a pediatric speech pathologist and serves children and families across Snohomish County. In their free time, they enjoy golfing, riding horses, biking, running, and (of course) working on the property.
