About the property

Welcome to The Cottage at Island Breeze - an ideal romantic hideaway for a peaceful island vacation. This two-story Bahamas beach house is located on the Atlantic side of Eleuthera near the quaint settlement of North Palmetto Point. A sandy pathway from the cottage leads to a dune deck overlooking a private white and pink sand beach, making it a delightful spot for your morning coffee. Enjoy snorkeling and swimming in the calm turquoise waters teeming with coral reefs and vibrant tropical fish. Or explore the beach for an assortment of exotic shells, sea glass, and the elusive sea beans that float over from Africa and are rumored to bring good luck to their finder. You can also spend time relaxing on the large rear deck of the house watching the herons, egrets, and osprey frolic in a salt water lake.

A fully equipped kitchen awaits you along with all the comforts you would expect in your own vacation home. The cottage is fully air-conditioned with ceiling fans throughout, comfortable furniture, a full bathroom downstairs, 1/2 bath in the loft and an outside shower. The loft bedroom opens up to a spacious deck where you can savor a luscious sunset and let the sound of the breaking waves caress you to sleep in your king-size bed. Linens, bath and beach towels, beach chairs, shampoo and body wash are all provided.

Why Amy Zalinsky chose Eleuthera

Our first visit to Eleuthera was in 1992. We fell in love with the breathtaking beauty and warm welcoming residents. We knew that Eleuthera was a very special untouched island, and we are excited to open our home to you. We wish you a visit that is filled with much love, laughter, and beautiful memories.

From our family to yours – Welcome to Eleuthera!

Michael and Katy Broderick

p.s. Be sure to…see a sunrise, see a sunset, see the stars at night, walk the beaches, explore, make new friends, read a good book, do absolutely nothing…return again to Eleuthera!

Pretty Perfect

If you're looking at this rental, that means you've already made the very good decision to visit Eleuthera. Booking it will be another very good decision. With accommodation prices rising all over the island, it is wonderful to have a lovely option for couples at such a reasonable price point. We got everything we could have possibly wanted in this cottage without having to pay for extra space just to get a nice place and some privacy. It's a quiet road with very little traffic...maybe 4-6 cars passed by per day. We saw only a few people each day on the beach. We highly recommend getting a 4-wheel drive rental because there are some beautiful and truly secluded beaches further down the road...but it gets a bit rough. The house and grounds are pristine and immaculately kept. It's beautifully furnished. Just about everything was in fine working order, and we found all possible equipment and supplies to be provided. The view from the bed upstairs was a joy each morning, as was morning coffee on the veranda. The view from the deck at the steps to the beach was amazing and we enjoyed the hammock there. The beach itself was very nice, though there is rock/coral at all possible entry points to the water, so beach/water shoes would be a good idea as it can be a bit treacherous. But such conditions do make for excellent snorkeling, which we did a lot of. Unfortunately, the wifi was not working most of the time. We let the caretaker know when we arrived, and she had BTC out there right away, but the solution did not last long and we had two very brief periods where it came back up for about 15 minutes and then would go back down. We did not seek repair again after the first time. While we had hoped to be able to keep contact with our small children who were traveling with their grandparents, we don't really mind being unplugged on vacation. And understand that this is a not a problem unique to this house, as wifi can be unreliable all over the island. All in all, it was a lovely experience and I do think we would return to this house.

Abolutely delightful. As advertised and more. A beautiful haven on a tropical paradise!

My friend and I spent a wonderful 10 days in the Island Breeze Cottage in late March 2016. We had an absolutely delightful time on Eleuthera and the Cottage was a big part of that! As a former contractor one of the first things I noticed was the excellent and substantial construction. It is beautiful, totally functional and had amenities that really enhanced our stay. The location on a very quiet little sand road maybe 50 feet from the stairway down to one of Eleuthera’s most beautiful beaches seemed to us to be ideal. Central on the island, close to shopping, restaurants and such an oasis when we’d return home each day. We had rented a jeep wrangler from an agency suggested by the Cottage contacts and that for us was perfect as we explored many of sandy, bushy roads to beaches we almost always had to ourselves. The outside shower on the deck allowed us to wash the sand off ourselves and our gear (we snorkeled 9 out of our 10 days). The door off the deck goes right to the washer and dryer which were great to have. The downstairs bathroom has a beautiful tiled shower stall & we never ran out of wonderful hot water. The kitchen appliances and cooking utensils are quite complete. A CD player and wireless internet were appreciated. There is a local cell phone provided with a request that renters replace the minutes before they leave. The furnishings are really lovely, just as pictured. The upstairs loft has a very comfortable king bed and to our delight there is a 2nd sink and toilet up there as well. To lay in bed watching the waving palm trees and listening to the surf is as restful and calming as can be imagined. The photos are accurate, this is a Cottage designed for two people who will be sharing the bed, it’s both very romantic and comfortable. The loft bedroom french doors open to a deck with a truly spectacular view up & down one of the best beaches on Eleuthera. Perfect for sunbathing! There is a loft ceiling fan (and non-opening skylight) and 2 more fans down stairs. There is AC both upstairs & down, but our temperatures were in the 70’s so we didn’t use it. With ample windows, screen doors & the 3 ceiling fans we were able to easily keep the Cottage comfortable. There were beautiful blooming plants in all directions. We had brought a book with us which gave invaluable information on Eleuthera’s amazing beaches, 135 of them! Buy and study that before you go. We also brought a GPS which proved very helpful when exploring. Enchanting Visit!

Loved our stay at Island Breeze!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first trip to Eleuthera and Island Breeze was a great place to begin our vacation. The cottage is perfect for two people; we loved the upstairs bedroom with deck overlooking the Atlantic - the sunrise over the ocean is the first thing you see in the morning without even getting out of bed! The location in Palmetto Point was convenient - it was only a 15 minute drive to Tippy's for a great meal. We highly recommend Island Farm for organic veggies and misc; it's worth the drive south to Rock Sound Market for grocery shopping. Bristol's Spirits on Cupid's Cay in Gouveners Harbour had great prices and selection.

You definitely need to rent a vehicle to see all the beauty this island has to offer - it's a challenge to "keep left" but worth the experience. The cottage was clean and well-equipped but would be even better if coffee filters, bar soap and clothing detergent were left for the guests. We were surprised at how expensive grocery shopping was, and for a short visit, really didn't want to spend money on things like oil and vinegar, etc. Now we know why everyone recommended bringing a cooler of meat - we would do that next time and especially with a longer visit. We will be back!!!

Breath Taking Paradise

  • 5 of 5

This trip is just what me and my fiancee' needed! we were both burned out from work and needed some R&R... Well this vacation exceeded our expectations! The Island Breeze Cottage was everything we wanted and more. They went far and beyond to make sure our needs were met, we didn't want for anything. The scenery was breath taking! I loved going to sleep to the sound of the ocean and waking up to the ocean view. We loved it so much we are looking at making plans to return in the near future. Thank you so much for making our time away so wonderfully relaxed!!

I was looking to escape the frigid NY winter and came across the Island Breeze listing while searching for a place that offered true relaxation. I booked it last minute, and Katy was extremely accommodating. I had a short stay in February, and I’m counting down the days until I get to go back. I have no words to express what an amazing time I had on the island. The pictures truly don’t do the place justice.

I know I should review it in detail to give you a better sense of what to expect, but I want you to be surprised as I was. From the scenic drive from the airport, to the moment you step foot in the cottage. It was unbelievable. The cottage is located in a lovely part of the island, spacious, clean, charmingly decorated, and with a breathtaking view. Nothing beats waking up to the sound of the ocean, and stepping out on to the balcony to drink your coffee. The place is stocked with all the essentials; they even provided me with a local cellphone, and contrary to other reviews, I had no issue with the wifi.

Nighttime was one of my favorite times during my stay. After a long day of swimming and exploring eleuthera, I’d cook and spent the evening out on the balcony or the deck watching the stars and listening to music.

This place is a hidden gem, and I can’t wait to go back. I wish had stayed longer considering the 80-degree difference in weather I had to come back to! Look no further, you won’t be disappointed

Owner's Response: Hi Ana and thank you for your kind review. Katy and I are always thrilled when our guests have as wonderful a time as we do while at Island Breeze. It is truly a special spot. Please let us know when you would like to return. After many service calls with Batelco our WIFI has been operating quite well and our caretaker Anne and her crew have been doing a wonderful job. Regards, Michael

Perfect for two!

  • 5 of 5

The private cottage was absolutely what we needed for our honeymoon. The view and sound of the ocean was magnificent! Very quiet and peaceful! We heard nothing but the ocean all day and night. The cottage itself was clean and everything was in working condition. We recommend getting bug spray for the sandflies and a rental car for a day. Our guide on the Island, Stanton is very knowledgeable and can assist with anything you need during your stay.

The weather was good the whole time. The water was a bit choppy, but I think that was due to hurricane season approaching, nonetheless, you can still get in the water.

Getting to the Island was a bit of a challenge, but once we got there it was worth it. We recommend flying into Nassau and then a direct flight into Governor's Harbour.

We really enjoyed our stay and looking foward to going back as soon as we can!
