About George and Lynn Wood
George and Lynn are not Colorado natives, but this is Home. George first came to Colorado to attend the USAF Academy in 1965. After graduation he was briefly stationed in Colorado as a young Intelligence officer prior to his assignment to Korea. After Korea and training in counter-insurgency, George served in Southeast Asia. His next assignment was in Hawaii where he met and married Lynn, who had been teaching at the University of Hawaii. A son and daughter soon rounded out their ohana. In 1978, a visit with friends in Colorado convinced them that this was eventually to be their permanent home. 14 years later, after living overseas, experiencing many cultures, and watching the Soviet empire fall, they finally made it to Colorado! They originally bought their Woodland Park and Cascade houses in 2002 as long-term rentals, but found that converting them to comfortable refuges for vacationers offered them better opportunities to meet and interact with great families from all over the world. George is now retired; he and Lynn have raised and shown some wonderful Bernese Mountain Dogs, in addition to having the honor and pleasure of hosting many visitors to our corner of paradise.

No heat bed liens sucked it was cold no heat water was brown really disappointed bout the rental
I’m sorry that you had problems with your heat. You called me at least 5 times on your way to the rental to tell me what a hard time you had with your vehicle and your troubles. I wish you would have called me to get the heat fixed. Or at least when we met in person before you left when you told me everything was great would have been appreciated. I checked everything and it has hot clean water and the furnace works great. It even got the house to the 85 degrees you turned it to. (Nest history) I hope your future travels go better for you.
A great week with family visiting USAFA
I was here with one of my sons, both parents, and my USAFA cadet son (for a few nights) for a week over Parents' Weekend. We didn't arrive until midnight, but walked in and loved our initial look around. It's nothing fancy, but it made us feel right at home. My parents mentioned all week how much it felt like the homes when they were growing up - from decor to some of the physical structuring of the house. There were plenty of books and games and internet/cable that worked well. (though I did have a hard time figuring out which channels were which without scrolling through ALL of them).
Though it is near a fairly busy road, I never noticed the noise from inside. We spent plenty of time on the front and back porches in awe of the view and temperatures (we're from Texas).
The house was stocked with the staples you'd find in any kitchen which is quite helpful. There were plenty of plates, utensils, etc. There is no dishwasher, which would have been a bummer for me, but my mom actually enjoys hand-washing. :) There was no big pitcher for us to make tea, so I just bought one and left it there. I was pleasantly surprised by the larger than expected capacity of the stacked washer/dryer. I thought the one bathroom might be an issue when there were five of us there - not a big deal at all.
I came to really appreciate the way they have you enter and lock the home. It totally prevents you from losing a key while out.
My cadet enjoyed it as he likes to stay a little farther off campus (I still think it was only 30 minutes)
The owners were fantastic and quickly answered any question I sent via email through vrbo.
We will definitely consider this home again.
Beautiful cottage, well furnished & great location
We were pleasantly surprised by this great little property. It was just the right size for our family of 5. The furnishings reminded us so much of our grandparent's homes. We loved the location and the fact that we could come back to cook a meal and rest in between adventures. They were very accommodating and when we had an issue with the WiFi connection, they went out of their way to fix it immediately.
Property not secluded as it appears in the pictures.
Property is right off a major highway making it very noisy and uncomfortable to sit on the porch. There is a pizza parlor on one side, a very busy post office on one side, a cabin 15 feet away on one side, major highway 20 feet away on one side. We were expecting something more secluded from the pictures. Hiking was not an option because the area has a chain link fence around it. We had issues with the TV and air conditioner. We left a message with the owner when we arrived but never received a call back.
Great place to stay!
Great place to stay! Nice little cottage in a great location with access to everything! Stayed here while I was working a contract job in the Springs, it has everything you would need including a washer/dryer combo and even a place to park my enclosed trailer! Owners George and Lynn are very nice and will do anything for you to make your stay a great experience!
We loved staying at this historic home. It had adorable furnishings, just like a grandmother's house. Everything there made our stay comfortable. The location was ideal, close to both Colorado Springs and the mountains past Woodlands Park.
