Charming old Farmhouse with spectacular views of the Pyrenees
The challenge of restoring an abandoned old farmhouse has been, at all, times daunting!
Using, and re-using, what was available around you, rather than new, to get the most from what is at hand! Loosen up, layer, mix This is what we have been doing for the last 3 years, against a back drop of the Pyrenees, white cows slowly grazing so close you can hear them and bee filled fields of sunflowers surrounding you
We found this house in a forgotten part of France and fell in love with the unspoiled spaces and the magnificent views!
The old piggery gave us the wood to build the kitchen and then it became a little pub with a view, called 'The Pig and Trout' (the trout part is the outside kitchen where we cook and gather all summer)
Poplar planks salvaged from an old barn, became the cupboards in the dressing room\bathroom
After a long day's work, we soak in a little indoor pool with the Pyrenees as our guest! In winter ... a Mexican style fire pit, and a slow roast in the pizza oven.
This is a place of peace and rustic charm, with walks through the forest or open fields..... a place to return to for sharing wonderful meals with friends and family!
