Great base for large groups on hiking trips in the region
Our family group of seven (two parents, three young kids, and two grandparents) stayed at Jean-Etienne’s place for one week while hiking in Corsica. We had a great experience. The home is located about a 15-minute drive outside of Corte, in a pleasant natural setting. Like most homes in the region, this is an older one, which means that it has some character. The house is also very large. We didn’t even use the third floor, where there are several more beds. The kitchen is well-equipped, and we found it most convenient to prepare our meals at home. For us, the highlight of the house was the large patio-deck with BBQ, table and chairs, where we ate all of our dinners together. The house is beside a road which has some traffic during the day, but is very calm at night, and allows for easy driving access to many hiking trails in the region. Across the road there is a small path down to a deep swimming hole in the river, which was a great place to go for a swim after a long day of hiking. Jean-Etienne, the home owner, met us both upon our arrival and our departure, and he was very helpful with details on the house and what to do in the region. Henri, an elderly local fellow who tends a large garden adjacent to the home, was frequently on the property during our stay, and we enjoyed meeting him. This home was a great base for our family during our week of hiking in Corsica.
