Great for instagram, marginal for actually staying
The owners clearly put a lot of thought and money into the renovation so I’m just not sure why some obvious things are missing: in the shower there’s shampoo/cond but no soap, there’s no door separating the bedroom from the kitchen, the bedroom is huge with a lot of wasted space- beyond the beds there’s a rickety chair- why no couch or seating? And most egregiously, there’s no WiFi as advertised. As another reviewer suspected, there is no router in the house, it’s likely in the rental next door, which first of all is a security risk if you plan to work from the rental and second obviously doesn’t extend beyond multiple concrete walls. Come on ladies, it’s almost 2020- jack up the price $5 and actually provide WiFi. And if by chance it does exist in the rental, go order some signal boosters.
Long weekend in Marfa
We had a wonderful stay in Marfa at the Highland Service Station. This is a quaint modern property with everything needed for a perfect get away! Highly recommended.
Unique Loding in Marfa
We had a great stay at Highland. It was close to town, both for walking and driving to see the art, shop and eat. The space is unique with lovely details and touches all around. The outdoor patio is a gem to sit and watch the rain storms or sky and stars at nite. I would love to stay here again.
Disappointing
This space has so much potential, but it failed on many levels.
AC - the space has a split AC unit, but it is in the kitchen. The first night it was so hot in the bedroom we had to pull the mattress into the kitchen to sleep
Outside bathtub- roof is covered so you can’t see the stars. Tub was filthy. The owner did leave cleaning supplies so we could clean the tub... but who’s going on vacation to do that.
Wi-fi- as far as we could tell the router was in a nearby house so it worked horribly in the space.
Beds- so uncomfortable, I love the minimalism that Marfa offers, however if you only have a few elements in the space what you put in the space should be quality. Especially in this type of accommodation, the beds should have been more comfortable.
We love Marfa and we will be back, but not back to this VRBO
Unique Restored Service Station
This was the perfect place for me and my dogs to relax and enjoy Marfa. It's on the main street and you can walk to several restaurants like The Water Stop, Capri, or Hombres and Planet Marfa.
My dogs loved the covered outdoor patio with its locking gates. Great place to have a beer and watch the day or night sky.
The interior is well laid out and nicely styled in clean southwest aesthetics. You definitely feel like you are in "far west Texas" and you can safely say you've never stayed in a converted gas station before. There was definitely a lot of thought put into the space and its contents.
Great place, great location
We loved staying at the Highland Service Station. Great amenities and great location. Hosts were super easy to communicate with. We would definitely love to stay here again!
