2 bedrooms, 1 bath, sleeps 6

The '46er', named for those who have summited the highest peaks in the Adirondacks, keeps with the tradition of the 46ers.

She is well-equipped, well-oriented in a quiet and private setting, totally surrounded by beauty, begging you to stay when you visit.

Unlike just another impersonal rental property, you'll find the warmth and comfort of home, classy yet cozy.

The chalet is completely remodeled with hardwood floors, skylights, and a new fireplace insert.

It is nestled on a hillside facing Whiteface and the Stephenson Range. Whiteface Olympic Mountain, which offers the ultimate in winter sports, is only two miles away. It was voted the Best Ski Center in the North East! In the warmer months, Whiteface offers mountain biking, gondola rides and special events. Also within a few miles are world-class mountain biking trails accessed from Hardy Road, as well as the Wilmington Flume Trails. Don't miss enjoying a lovely afternoon on Lake Everest, canoeing or swimming at the town beach or visiting the amazing Wilmington Flume. If you love fly-fishing, you can't find a better location. Less than a mile away is the West Branch of the Ausable River which is famous for it's wily trout!! Wilmington is, indeed, an outdoor enthusiasts mecca!

Lake Placid Village, with all that it has to offer, is just ten beautiful miles away on one of the most picturesque roads in the Adirondacks. Here you can enjoy shopping, dining, arts and crafts, museums, The Olympic Center, golf, horse shows, movies, festivals, nightlife ... or 'in short' - the hustle and bustle of this special and lively Olympic Village.

When your spirit moves you beyond the chalet, so much awaits!

First you'll encounter the large, wrap around deck which sports Adirondacks chairs and an outdoor dining area with sometimes chickadees that will eat from your hand. You may not get much further for awhile.

The hot tub invites you for that romantic or relaxing dip after a day on the mountain. In the evening, you can sit by the stone ringed campfire and share the stories of your day. It is truly a magical place to be!

While the chalet can sleep a total of 6, please keep in mind that the living space is a total of 800 sq. ft. so guests may find it more comfortable with 4 or fewer folks.

About Susan and Bill Harral

We moved to the Adirondacks in 2010 and love living here year-round! The photo shows us on our wedding day in 2011 atop Little Whiteface Mountain just after the ceremony. It was a lovely June day! The beautiful mountains for hiking and peaceful lakes for paddling drew us here. Prior to our move, we were living just outside Harrisburg, PA where Bill grew up. Susan grew up in Roanoke, VA and spent her summers on Smith Mountain Lake where her appreciation for nature bloomed and grew. We enjoy sharing the area with our 4 children and 8 grandchildren who come to visit occasionally.

Susan and Bill Harral purchased this chalet in 2017

Why Susan and Bill Harral chose Wilmington

We fell in love with this adorable and cozy chalet. We decided that if we felt so comfortable here then others would too. The location is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts, ready for adventure!! Perfectly situated on a nicely wooded lot near the top of a quiet road, it's truly an idyllic setting. We live only 20 minutes away so are close by for any needs which may arise at the chalet!

What makes this chalet unique

The chalet is unique in that it is comfortable for a family or group of friends, yet very intimate for a couple or a single person. It's a great place just "to be" whether it's sitting up in the loft in the comfy, oversized chair reading a good book while listening to the gentle rain on the skylight or in the living room snuggled on the couch by the fireplace warming your soul. By the way, your firewood is cut, stacked and ready to go at the 46er! There is always a soft throw or a blanket at hand to wrap yourself in and many pillows to arrange for that "just perfect fit". In the winter, you'll appreciate the hot water radiators for warming up your towels or drying wet mittens and socks. The kitchen is well-equipped, making it easy to prepare a simple breakfast or a Thanksgiving feast.

We invite you to come and see for yourself how special a place this is and it's our hope that you will want to come back again and again!!

Quaint Chalet

  • 5 of 5

Susan & Bill’s Chalet is an excellent location for an ADK hiking experience! Close proximity to Lake Placid but you can escape the tourist environment if you choose. The Chalet is quaint & secluded. It offers all the amenities required plus the hot tub & outdoor fire ring. We chose this property specifically due to the cleanliness ratings, yes it is very neat & clean!! Maximum capacity would be 4. The hosts also made us feel special with some welcoming gifts. Susan & Bill will respond promptly to all correspondence. We hiked the Saranac Lake 6ers the Chalet location is perfect. An amazing experience, we highly recommend the Chalet!!

Fantastic rental

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at the chalet. The property is very clean. They have everything you need as well as some nice other touches like a flashlight in the bedroom, or candles, or stair gate. Just very well thought out set up to allow for an amazing, worry free, relaxed stay. The hot tub was amazing and so was the fire pit. You are separated from neighbors quite a bit which gives lots of privacy. Overall extremely pleased!

Vacation Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

The chalet provided all the necessary items to make our stay enjoyable and comfortable. We traveled via motorcycles leaving little room for extra items. The chalet was equipped with ample kitchen, bath and bedding necessities. The property was serene and quiet after a long day of kayaking, swimming and touring the area. We had a wonderful vacation and enjoyed our stay at the chalet.

Very cute and comfortable stay

  • 5 of 5

We loved the chalet, we hadn’t planned to spend as much time in it as we did but with the bad weather we weren’t able to kayak. The chalet was super cute, perfectly sized and avery comfortable bed. The hot tub was a really nice touch to our trip. A very private and beautiful location

Quiet and cozy cabin

  • 4 of 5

The cozy 46er cabin located on top of a hill with beautiful views of the whiteface mountains. Close to the high falls gorge, whiteface mt, and plently of hiking trails. Definitely buggy but you are in the woods so you should expect that. Only thing i think it the cleaning fee of $85 dollars should be a deposit if not cleaned up after your stay. Besides that great spot..Pet friendly too (but for a fee $75 alittle steep) Thanks again

Owner's Response: Thanks for taking the time to write a review after your stay at the chalet. We also read what was written in our guest book at the chalet and were pleased to see that you gave us an A++ rating there. It sounded like you had a great time. We do feel compelled to address your comment about the $85 cleaning fee and the $75 pet fee. The $85 cleaning fee goes entirely to the professional cleaning crew we have hired. Because we want to provide a high standard of cleanliness, we don't feel comfortable relying on guests to do the cleaning the day they leave. Most times, guests do not want to be scrubbing a toilet and running the vacuum the day they are heading home. From our standpoint, having the same cleaning crew insures that the chalet will be kept continually clean to the same high standards. As for the pet fee, we travel with our dog too and have paid as much as $200 in a pet fee. I know that you had two dogs with you and I am sure that if you had to board both dogs at a kennel for 6 days, the cost would have far exceeded our fee of $75. In addition, it's always nice to be able to bring your dog/dogs along...both for them and for us as owners. When dogs accompany our guests, we have to pay our cleaners more than $85 because it takes them much longer to clean so part of the $75 goes to them and the rest is for wear and tear on the property. Thanks again! Bill and Susan
