owner/property manager purchased this Cabin in 2016
Why owner/property manager chose Purlear
I have always had a dream of having a log cabin tucked away in the mountains. I even painted a log cabin hideaway when I was 10 years old, and it sits in our cabin today. When Bobby caught the dream as well, we started searching for land so that we could build what we wanted. We looked first in the Asheville area, but decided that would be too long of a drive for weekend getaways. Then we found the listing for the wooded plot with a stream in the "community" of Hidden Cove in Purlear. The previous owners had a plan of building a cabin in this spot, but never did, and so decided to sell. When we first walked onto the property, we fell in love with it instantly. We still looked at a few others, but we could not get the beautiful sloping land surrounded by a rushing creek out of our minds. So we bought it, and soon thereafter purchased a log cabin kit. It was much hard work, but after a few years, we finally had our dream come true. We find much peace and tranquility here, and we are happy and excited to share that gift with like-minded people who are looking for a respite deep in the woods, where a river, or large creek in our case, runs through it. Come listen to the sounds of the cascading creek and see why we fell in love with this property, and we promise you will want to come back for more.
What makes this Cabin unique
Cozy Creek Cabin was built with blood, sweat, tears and a whole lotta love. Bobby did much of the work himself. We hired a contractor the specializes in log homes to stack the logs and do the framing, but Bobby, a former contractor himself, drove to the cabin site almost every weekend for a solid year to lay the foundation, build the large fireplace and chimney, and finish the interior. We found the antique claw foot tub in a 1900 house in Greensboro that was being refurbished. We bought the tub and refinished it and it is a perfect fit in the cabin. We had a large cedar tree at our former home in Thomasville that was damaged from an ice store, so we cut it down and it became the sink pedestal in the master bath, as well as the cedar branches that adorn the banister and balcony of the custom cedar staircase that Bobby built. The king Bed and the Queen Sleeper Sofa are Thomasville brand, since we are from there. Bobby also did all of the stonework for the fireplace and chimney himself. You can still see the sawmill marks in the pine flooring that Bobby laid in the living room, which Bobby's dad hand-sawed himself at his own sawmill. A special memorial to Bobby's dad, who left us for heaven all too soon. Come see all of the personal touches that adorn Cozy Creek Cabin, from the pebble floor in the master bath, to the rustic bear and woodland decor. You will feel peaceful and cozy at Cozy Creek Cabin.

Wonderful fall getaway
We had a fantastic time at this cabin! The creek is very fun to explore, and it is so peaceful and quiet there, that even taking a walk along the road is serene and lovely. I think we saw maybe 4 cars the entire weekend, and we never saw another person. If you want to be remote, this is the place! And even though it was remote, it never felt creepy. I took many walks by myself and never felt unsafe.
The directions to the property were perfect - I recommend getting there in the daylight if possible. We didn’t drive at night, but I’m guessing it’s pretty dark on those roads.
The inside of the cabin was very clean and inviting. Maybe this is a weird thing to review, but having quality tissues, paper towels, and toilet paper make a HUGE difference, and this cabin has all of them. We have stayed in many places with very cheap paper goods, and we usually travel with our own because of it. The owners have definitely thought of everything with abundant towels and washcloths as well.
Overall a fantastic trip!
Another awesome trip!
As every other time, we had an amazing time. We love this property and hope to get back up there soon!!
Cozy Creek Cabin
We couldn't have asked for a better place to be for a nice relaxing weekend stay, the weather was perfect for us. This cabin is very well set up, nice & clean, plenty of bedding, blankets & towels, everything is in perfect shape. I'm hoping we will be able to return for a longer stay so we can explore the area, this weekend was just to get away and relax. Thank you for offering up your cabin to us.
Landreneau Foliage Vacation
This property was exactly what we were looking for! My husband and I were celebrating our retirements from over 40 years of nursing and just wanted to see beautiful fall foliage and have a restful evening each day. The owner was very helpful and even helped us contact the local electric company when the lights went out one night during a wind and rainstorm. The cabin had everything you could possibly need for a relaxing vacation as well as being near to national parks and towns for shopping.
Wonderful cabin with everything you could possibly want.or need. The stream on the side of the cabin was very peaceful. Bed was very comfortable, the linens smelled wonderful. I could go on and on ... hope to stay again
This place is just as advertised, and reviewed. The reviews aren't lying it IS quite a hike. We did get turned around once but the owner was amazing in being available to help us get back on track, which we did quickly. Once there, you won't want to leave! It's very clean, very comfy and very quiet - except the amazing creek noise. We can't wait to return one day. If you want a quiet, no stress weekend - this is your place.
