About Jim Heuer
My husband Robert and I are recently retired and enjoy making our newly created apartment available to guests from around the world. We both are interested in architectural history, literature, and travel.
Jim Heuer purchased this Apartment in 1999
Why Jim Heuer chose Irvington
We offer a great combination of easy car or transit access to Portland's vibrant downtown and tourist attractions with the serene atmosphere of a beautifully preserved historic "streetcar neighborhood" with lovely homes and tree-lined streets. The nearby Broadway shopping district means you'll have tons of dining and shopping options just a few minutes walk from your door.
What makes this Apartment unique
You have as much privacy as you want with our electronic key-code door entry and completely separate entrance from the street. And we're mobility friendly with only three easy stair steps into the unit. Even the shower is equipped with a handrail and a fold down seat for your comfort.

Great Place, Great Location
We stayed at Jim and Robert’s VRBO for two weeks and couldn’t have been more pleased. Arrived to find homemade muffins and chocolate. Beautiful unit—garden apartment with two large windows and several smaller ones. Excellent condition, exceptionally clean. Slept well in a very comfortable bed. Location was great—walking distance to restaurants and shops on Broadway, beautiful neighborhood walks outside the front door, quick drive over Broadway Bridge to downtown and NW Portland. Excellent communication with Jim and Robert and the property manager. A home run all around!
We had a wonderful stay! The special touches were very much appreciated, and the hosts were excellent. Great neighbourhood with lots of great shops and restaurants, and close to transit.
We're delighted that you enjoyed your stay. Come back any time you're in Portland.
This was our first stay in a Vrbo, and we are certain that it will be the very best. Our hosts had thought of everything for our comfort and what we could possibly need. Everything was immaculate and very comfortable. We will stay there on our next visit to Portland.
We're delighted you enjoyed your stay. Please consider staying with us again the next time you come to Portland.
A great space with attention to detail! I look forward to staying there again.
Thanks for staying with us. We're delighted you enjoyed your stay. Come back again soon!
Perfect in every way
I can't say enough good about this property. Check-in was so easy. The property, even though it is on the lower level of the main house, is it's own separate place. You don't even know there are people living above you. The place was immaculate, and provided everything we could possible need, down to fresh muffins and orange juice in the fridge! There is a TV in the living room and one in the bedroom, which is great when trying to unwind after a full day and you don't want to watch what the other person is watching!
The bathroom was designed with a woman in mind! There was plenty of counter space for all of my 'stuff', even including a magnifying mirror mounted on the wall. I loved getting ready in that bathroom! The whole property is beautifully decorated and just like new. We stayed there 4 days as part of our vacation, and did all of our sightseeing in the Portland area from there. The house is easy to find, parking was easy and always close by, and we had our own code for entering the property. Do not hesitate to rent this property. If I ever know of someone going to Portland, I will recommend this place!
Thank you for your kind comments. We're happy that you enjoyed your stay. Come back again soon!
Quiet and comfortable
I really enjoyed my stay, it was just what we needed. The owner gave great thought to comfort details to make you feel at home., like cotton balls, rubbing alcohol, robes, water, muffins etc.. The decor was nice and inviting, I loved the historical pictures! This home was a quiet retreat for us, we ordered food to go from our favorite restaurants near by, brought it back to the rental to watch tv and relaxed. The neighborhood would be a nice place for a walk or even a stroll down to a store or restaurant. We also slept very well, there was no weird noises to keep you awake, a very quiet place. The bed was also comfortable and spacious, there was a lot of natural light as well pretty shades to close it out if needed.
My husband and I enjoyed every bit of our stay, we would definitely stay again and recommend to friends!
We're delighted you enjoyed your stay. Thanks for staying with us. If your travels bring you back to Portland, please be sure to consider us for your Portland "Quiet Retreat".
We are located in the Irvington Historic District, which offers hours of lovely strolling past historic homes under a gracious canopy of stately trees. As we are close to the NE Broadway shopping district there are over 25 restaurants, including many of our favorites. Portland's excellent public transit system puts four bus routes, the Streetcar and the MAX light rail system at your disposal within walking distance.
