About this property

Cozy Studio in the Heart of Santa Barbara's Historic District

La Casa Escondida D is a cozy, quiet retreat perfect for 1-2 people in the heart of downtown Santa Barbara’s historic district. Settle into an open-air space complete with high ceilings, kitchen, gas fireplace, bathtub, a charming private outdoor garden patio and off-street parking. Walk to downtown via the El Presidio historic district, brimming with hip coffee shops, cheese shops, wine shops and an incredible farmer’s market.

The studio is furnished with an array of antiques, collectibles and original works of art. The kitchen is equipped with cookware and dishware, a 2-burner stovetop, toaster oven large enough for pizza and roasts, microwave, refrigerator and a small sink, perfect for enjoying a meal in or breakfast on the private garden patio. The queen bed is dressed in crisp linens and a cozy down comforter. Above the bed is a loft for use as a storage space. The separate bathroom, with skylight and new flooring, boasts privacy with the sink area in a room adjacent to the combination tub/shower and toilet.

Find Santa Barbara’s cultural highlights within walking distance including the Lobero, Arlington and Granada theaters with live music, opera and symphony performances as well as the Santa Barbara Museum of Art and the historic Santa Barbara Courthouse. State Street, Santa Barbara’s downtown shopping district, filled with boutiques and restaurants, is also within walking distance. The beach, harbor and wharf are a short bike or cab ride away. Depending on interests, a car is optional. We are 12 blocks from the Amtrak station and about a 20-minute ride from the Santa Barbara airport in Goleta.

We have hosted a number of guests who work remotely or are in town for extended work contracts and educational programs as well as former Santa Barbara residents who still enjoy spending time in our special city.

La Casa Escondida D is one of four studios in our bungalow building and we have created a peaceful, private environment for our tenants and guests. We hope that you feel enveloped in comfort in our special space, enjoying the unique details that we have worked hard to create and the incredible culture that Santa Barbara has to offer.

An amazing “neighborhood” of homes tucked away near downtown. Walking distance to almost everything great in Santa Barbara (The Mission, Presidio, Handlebar coffee, Rudy’s Mexican, The Courthouse, a little farther to the beach but well worth the walk down State St) and yet so peaceful. Good for 2 adults but comfortable when our daughter visited. Blake was a lovely host!

Wonderful graduation trip
We stayed for our daughters from UCSB in June 2023. A previous rental for this stay didn’t work out. This listing although wasn’t pet friendly did allow us to bring our little dog. He was overjoyed by the ability to lie in the sun and sit with the cool breeze coming in the adorable Santa Barbara door 😊. Santa Barbara will always be our special place and we will be back sooner than we were the last time. Best part of rental was walking to restaurants and walking to the courthouse. This beautiful city and the friendliness of everyone makes it even more beautiful.

Wonderful beautiful tropical paradise of a place! Great access for my senior citizen father who was visiting for a month. Fresh lemons from the lemon tree were fabulous and the palm tree provided an especially picturesque patio. We will definitely rent again.

an amazing studio
I came to make a linguistic stay in Santa Barbara for 5weeks and I chose this lovely studio. It was just like the photos, incredible! The studio is near everything, that’s great. Blake has taken good care of me during my stay, she was always available when I needed something. I definitely recommends this studio and I’ll go back to my next stay in Santa Barbara!

Wonderful Stay
I had a wonderful stay at La Casa Escondida Studio D for 6+ weeks this summer. Blake is an excellent host and was very responsive when I reached out with questions or any (minor) issues. The studio is so well located very close to downtown, just a five minute walk to State Street and many cafes, restaurants and shopping. I could walk to the waterfront in under 20 minutes. Yet it is tucked away in a very quiet location. Blake has decorated the suite very nicely and clearly takes pride in providing a comfortable and clean environment for her guests. I look forward to staying again when I return to Santa Barbara.
