Treasure of a cottage
We stayed for 2 glorious weeks of waking up to the amazing view of the lake. The house was so wonderfully appointed, we were able to cook meals for our family (2 kids).
The children loved playing lake-side (it was chilly in October when we were visiting) and we loved sitting on the dock sipping tea and watching them. Games, toys, books gave us family activities- and having the play room for movies was a great retreat. Having the kids around, we were also thankful for the laundry, bathtub, life jackets.
We hosted friends during the long weekend which was easy and comfortable. The design of the space in the cottage makes a small cozy cottage feel expansive and easy to share with others.
We will come back next time Maine calls!
Lovely cottage on a beautiful lake.
We had a lovely time at this cottage. It is right on the beautiful, clean and quiet lake. It has all the necessary things you need . We relaxed and the grandchildren lived in the lake. It is conveniently located to nearby towns and places to visit yet remains isolated enough to be very relaxing.
Amazing and cozy!!!!
Nine of us stayed at this quaint cottage on Alford Lake. The Lake was amazingly warm, crisp and quiet. Chris supplied the cottage with all the outdoor amenities we could ask for -- kayaks, noodles, a canoe. Very good for swimming and fishing. The cottage was supplied with more than we could ask for (and we are foodies and like to cook - so all supplies were there for us. We were close to a few nice towns such as Camden, Rockland and Lincolnville. We did buck-a shuck at the beach from 4-5 (amazing). The WalMart was about 20 minutes away and had all we needed. We did the Cellardoor winery and ate at DelVino's in Belfast which was one of the best dinners I ever had. We drove to Acadia National Park and visited Bar Harbor. We also drove to Old Orchard Beach for the kids -- a bit of a drive -- I would pass on that if I could take it back. I suggest you stay close to home and enjoy the quiet, surreal vacation at the Cottage. Thank you Chris for letting us enjoy your amazing home. I highly recommend.
This cottage is like finding a little piece of heaven. Made wonderful memories on the lake!
We enjoyed kayaking, swimming and relaxing at the lake. Lots of wonderful day trips too- Camden, Arcadia, Beth’s Farm Market and Cellar Door Winery to name a few. Can’t wait to return next year. This home has it all! Gorgeous views-well stocked - and very comfortable. Who could ask for anything more!!
Enjoy "family camp" style and gorgeous views on a crystal clear lake
Our multi-generational family (grandparents, adult children and grand baby) spent a week at this tranquil retreat. This well designed, renovated cottage was a great home base for our explorations of mid coast Maine. The Cottage on Alford Lake sits in a secluded area of "family camps" there is even a small youth camp in a corner of the lake. The location is an easy drive to Camden, Rockport and Rockland if you wish to explore restaurants, shopping and culture. The cottage is equipped with a dock, kayaks and canoe if you prefer to spend your days playing on the lake...(the owners have even generously provided plenty of life jackets!) The cottage is literally a stone's throw from the lake, we loved being lulled to sleep with Loons calling on the lake at night, then waking up to blueberry pancake breakfasts together in the morning.
We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation on Alford Lake but have in mind this unique cottage is not "fancy"...think "comfy rustic", very clean and well equipped with everything you need. I should mention that the local well water had a slight sulphur odor (which is common in more remote areas in Maine) the owner let us know about this issue so we made sure to purchase our drinking water on our way in. Chris the owner was very prompt and attentive with communication and a pleasure to work with.
