Our property is a cozy cabin on a quiet lake. If you are looking for a tranquil retreat in the beautiful Upper Peninsula, this is the place for you. You will find yourself immersed in the beauty of the Hiawatha National Forest, but close enough to local attractions to meet all your vacation expectations. Located on picturesque Baldy Lake, we offer swimming, fishing, and canoeing or you can just sit around the fire pit and enjoy the peacefulness. If you are a winter visitor, you will be connected to the Baldy Lake Snowmobile Trail right from the front door. If you want to venture out and explore the area or need to get some supplies, our cabin is only 2 miles off a main highway and only 12 miles from Munising, which offers tours or hiking at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, fishing excursions, and a variety of other great outdoor activities. Just 3 miles away is the local grocery store which is well-stocked with items you might need. You will be surrounded by ORV trails, so bring your 4 wheeler or side-by-side and go riding.
Our cabin has recently been renovated from top to bottom. Our new solar power runs all the appliances on the premises. The solar system is easy to use - just switch on the light switches like at home. There ARE limits with a solar-powered system for certain items. Anything that has a heating element is unavailable for use. This includes crock pots, Instapots, curling irons, hair dryers, Keurig or other electric coffee pots. Those items are NOT allowed. Not to worry, though. You will not miss any of those appliances. The cabin is well-stocked with everything you need to make your stay as cozy as home. Our owners manual at the cabin includes all instructions related to the solar. If you have further questions, please contact us. We would love to discuss this alternative energy that makes our off-the-grid cabin feel just like home! There is a new whole-house generator as back up that works with the push of a button.
While we brag about our rustic simplicity, you still have a modern bathroom with a hot shower after a long day of snowmobiling or rinsing off after sunbathing on the lake shore. We have a 9.6 cubic foot fridge with ample space for your family s foods and beverages. Brew your coffee quickly with our percolator coffee pot on our modern propane range/oven. We also have a propane grill for cooking. A starter pack of paper products and soaps are provided for your convenience.
Our cabin has ample cooking space along with an island for hanging out with friends and a there is a huge table for meals and playing cards. Challenge your family to a foosball tournament on our vintage foosball table. There are plenty of lawn chairs available for sitting around our fire pit and listening to the lake sounds.
The sauna is fully functional and well-stocked with fresh cut cedar and birch.
We have a spiral staircase linking the upstairs sleeping and living area to our downstairs kitchen. We recommend comfy sneakers or slippers to wear around the kitchen area. Guests can also relax on the upper deck overlooking the lake. There are stairs directly from the deck to the lake as well as access around the cabin to throw in your fishing line or cool off on a hot day.
The cabin sleeps 6 and possibly up to 8. There is one bedroom with a queen size bed, a set of twin bunk beds in an alcove, and 2 pull out sofas with full size mattresses in the main living area. We have brand new pillows and memory foam mattresses on the pull-outs to make our guests extra comfortable. There is no TV to distract you from the beauty of your surroundings.
The cabin itself has been recently updated with paint, drywall, updated plumbing, flooring, furnishings, etc. so you will feel right at home. Our solar powered system has the capability to run all your appliances, recharge your phones (though cell service is spotty), and is easy to use. There is a modern bathroom with a toilet, shower, and sink. The kitchen has a refrigerator/freezer and there is a propane stove/oven and is well-stocked with all your typical kitchen utensils and cookware. We also have a propane grill for cooking. A starter pack of paper products and soaps are provided for your convenience.

The lake itself is a local secret fishing hole. It is well-stocked with a variety of fish including black crappie, bluegill, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, perch, northern pike, sunfish and rock bass. The winter ice fishing is just as good. Just bring your ice auger and start catching your limit! There is a public boat launch on the south end which is capable of launching a small boat by carrying it down a hill, not a back-in boat launch. The lake bottom is soft in many places, but swimming is a favorite activity of many guests. We recommend old sneakers or water shoes.
For snowmobilers: access hundreds of miles of trails right outside the front door. The Buckhorn Resort is just 5 miles away on the trails or 16 miles via the roads. Note: there is limited turn-around space for large snowmobile trailers, so contact us for details on parking.
Just a few of the wonderful day trips available in the Upper Peninsula include taking a jaunt to Tahquamenon Falls State Park, Kitch-iti-Kipi (the Big Spring), Marquette’s Sugarloaf Mountain, Seney Wildlife Refuge, Mackinac Island, or visit Sault Saint Marie and take a Soo Locks boat tour from our centrally located cabin. Pack one of the coolers we have available for you and take a ride.
Our location and driving time is about 2 hours west of the Mackinac Bridge, 60 minutes east of Marquette, and about 75 minutes northeast of Escanaba.
Ours is one of a few cabins on the lake, all family owned for many years. We love sharing our property with you, but would like guests to remember to be respectful of our neighbors. Loud music, fireworks, and large parties are prohibited.
Pets (no cats) are welcome for an additional fee.
