Fantastic and Secluded in the off season
We really enjoyed our stay at this cabin ( tiny house) on Lake James because it was a very small and cozy cabin that was far away from anyone or anything. So if that is what you are looking for than this is your spot. Fridge, microwave, oven, shower, bathrooom, firepit, cable tv all included. It was 45 minutes to some great hiking and 90 minutes in any direction to other hiking, skiing and and towns of interest. However there is absolutley nothing within an hour of the cabin as far as entertainment or restaurants. This was a perk for our family as we wanted to be away from anything except a view of the Lake for a few days. We saw plenty of deer creeping buy as we came and went which was very cool. The cabin was warm, well constructed, clean and had two televisions. My son enjoyed sleeping in the loft and we even had our dogs with us who were perfectly content to enjoy the scenery and be warm in the cabin. The owner was accessible throughout our stay even on Christmas day. We were very appreciative of the hospitality but also loved the time spent alone.
Romantic and cozy
Adorably decorated cozy cabin was perfect for my fiancée and I. The location is spectacular and I can’t wait to return when the weather is warmer. Only thing missing as a WiFi connection as we still had to check in with work!
We arrived on a cold, rainy afternoon to find the cabin already warmed up for us.
It's an unbelievable location: lake view on three sides, right on the lake, a dock, a beach, and a marina all right there. Low traffic because it was November, but I could see it being really busy in the summer. We saw deer and turkeys on the property or nearby.
Kimberly was quick to answer any questions or emails, very accommodating and easy to work with. Some things were outside her control, but disappointing anyway. The outside electric was out so we didn't get to enjoy those cool string lights. The Marina was closed for the season so we didn't have any Wifi nearby. She had some firewood brought in for the firepit, but they are huge logs and there was no kindling. This was remedied by an adventure gathering of sticks and dry leaves from the nearby areas.
The futon couch in the living room was amazingly comfy and the pillows for the beds nice quality. My tall teen daughter liked the loft bed, but getting in and out of there was challenging. I wouldn't think the place could really sleep 6 unless 3 of them were little.
The little details in and out of the cabin are precious and charming. The basic structure of the cabin is rough with many water stains and old floors: that said, there were no funky odors, and everything was clean.
The advantage of this place's pricing is not in the nightly fee, which is a little high but one is obviously paying for the location and amenities, but the lack of excessive cleaning and service fees, which I really appreciate.
If you are outdoor people, this is a great choice.
Cozy cabin. Gorgeous natural property enhanced with stone walls, sand beach and outside lighting.
We spent five days at this secluded cabin and enjoyed every minute. The lake view was beautiful for watching sunrises and sunsets. I enjoyed the rocking chairs on the dock for relaxing and reading, while my husband enjoyed kayaking and fishing. Evenings were spent by the beautiful stone fire pit roasting hot dogs or grilling out on the gas grill. Nice outside furniture for relaxing. When darkness came, there were lots of outdoor lights that came on to create a magical atmosphere. The night sky was spectacular, devoid of light pollution.
This location is within 20 minutes of restaurants and grocery stores. Also not far from the parkway. The cabin was very clean and comfortable. The grounds were very clean and well maintained.
We were blessed with beautiful weather. There were plenty of places at Bear Cliff for walking. The color was just turning on the trees, but a short drive up the parkway revealed peak colors.
We had a really wonderful time at this magical place!
