Why Laura Euler chose Montauk
My great-grandmother lived in Montauk for fifty years, and both my mother and I grew up spending a lot of time out here and we love it. My grandmother's house had to be sold after her death, but I was lucky enough to be able to buy this house back in 1999, which is only a few doors down from Nana's house (the cute gray house on Old Montauk Highway by School Lane).
What makes this House unique
You can watch the waves roll in on the beach from the deck up top, and stare at the sea from the sunroom. It's so relaxing! The beach is directly across the street, so it's easy to have a lovely beach walk in the morning or evening, and there's nothing to block the view. The house is older and decorated in a vintage style, with a lot of charm.

I’m not sure how this property has ever gotten 5 stars. Unless it’s for the location. The house is old and uncared for. Too bad bc it’s cute and has a great location. It seems as though only the bare essentials get fixed or cleaned. I was very disappointed when I arrived to find the front door doesn’t close or lock. The back door closes but also doesn’t lock. Broken chairs are in the kitchen and also out in the upstairs porch. Not very many towels and the ones there are grayish with some stains. All in all we tried to make the best of it. If you are looking to stay for a reasonable price in an unkempt not super clean house then this is for you.
This quirky but comfy home was perfectly located--just steps from the beach and quite close to town. We were a group of five--two couples and a single friend--and had plenty of space to hang out as well as 3 good sized bedrooms (one w/a king, one with a double, and one with 2 twins.) The house is in need of some repairs, but nothing that really bothered us for a weekend stay.
The location was excellent and what a Veiw!
Well the house needed some repairs,Screened door screen ripped on back door.Toilet downstairs seat cracked and sink was very wobbly couldn’t even lean against. None of this really bothered us ,Butupstsirs bathroom shower window was about 6 “ opened and stuck open could not close crank & the water pressure although very hot was a trickle,So some were freezing while showering,The other Bathroom was fine so we then use that to shower. One thing that upset us Half the house the lights flickered on and off and final went off and were off the rest of the weekend, I did get in touch with owner and we tried use to fuse box but nothing worked ,We are all RNs and were a little troubled by it , Thinking there must be a electrical problem , We would only book again unless this is was resolved
The house on the picture seems to have a lot of charm and it would be if this wasn’t so old and dirty. I understand old houses have their flaws but here we are talking about stains on sofa everywhere, dirty floor, broken chair on the terrasse, glass not cleaned, door and windows not closing (even the key left for us didn’t work). On top of this, the heat went down the last night letting us with no hot water and 55 degre in the house.
With a little more care, this house could be a nice spot with the view of the ocean. Maybe it would be nicer in summer when you actually don’t spend as much time inside.
Adorable, cozy, beach-side cabin
Rustic, homely decor. Plenty of space and light, but perfectly cozy for our party of 7. Can't wait to come back in the summer!
