About Patricia Szot and Craig Sanders
My husband and I currently live in the Seattle area. We recently purchased this home as a vacation getaway. We have visited the Big Island many times and fell in love with the area and the island.
Patricia Szot and Craig Sanders purchased this House in 2018
What makes this House unique
I fell in love with the house because of the huge screened-in lanai and the large back yard with all sorts of flowers and fruit trees. I can sit all day long on the lanai enjoying the ocean breeze and the sound of waves crashing into the shore, or the the rain falling onto the roof. At night there is the added pleasure of hearing the coque frogs. The location of Kaloli Point allows safe walking around the area and easy access to coastal water for bird- or whale-watching. The coastline is entirely public so that one can walk along the rocks as far as they can without encroaching on private property.

A wonderful vacation home
The Melemele house was great for our family, lots of room. The kids had their own bedrooms and bath down stairs. Master bedroom was large and comfortable with the walk out porch. It was wonderful to listen to the surf at nite. The kitchen had everything, it was a joy to eat out on the screened in porch outside the kitchen. The Architect of this home gets a (10) we cannot wait to come back .
Mahalo Brad and family, so glad you had a great time and you are welcome back anytime. We also love the layout of the house. We find the screened in lanai, just perfect.
Thank you again for letting us know about the pump. We finally figured it out, it was the check valve the is suppose to prevent water from flowing back out.
Great location for a wedding
We booked this house about a year ago because it was close to Kaloli point as we wanted to get married on the cliffs there. The house was perfect for us just the right size for our family and so close to where we got married.
House was clean and comfortable had a lovely welcome gift from rhe owner on arrival.
Only downside was the neighbour played his radio fairly loud 24 hours a day fortunately we liked his taste in music so it wasnt the end of the world.
Well worth travelling from Australia for the house and would highly reccomend staying here.
Whitby family, I am so glad the wedding went well. Kaloli Point is a beautiful place and it was a great idea to have the ceremony there. Congratulation!! I am so sorry about the neighbor and his music, I know he is going through some medical issues, but will talk with him. Thank you for letting me know.
Comfortable and spacious home near gorgeous lava cliffs!
This house has everything you need for a relaxing and fun vacation. We enjoyed dinner on the lanai every night. Well stocked kitchen, comfortable beds and plenty of space for everyone. The only downfall was the rooster crowing every morning but with the fans on you didn’t hear it as much.
Thanks for taking great care of the house, our cleanest guest. Sorry about the rooster, the Big Island has a feral rooster problem. The fans are great to drown it out. For a while there we had chased it away, will have to try again.
Fabulous home close to ocean
This home south of Hilo is perfect for several families. The kitchen is very well-equipped for cooking meals. We spent a lot of time on the large screened lanai listening to the birds and tree frogs. Each day we walked on the lava coastline just two blocks away. Gorgeous,There are ceiling fans and floor fans to cool the rooms on hot days and nights. The orange tree was full of ripe fruit so we were able to have fresh squeezed orange juice each morning.
As I plant more fruit trees I am going to let arriving guests know about them. This is one of the many things about Hawaii I absolutely love, fresh fruit from the garden.
Plenty of room in this house for our family of six! Had a great time in nice quiet neighborhood!
Enjoyed short walk to beautiful views of ocean in friendly neighborhood. Patti and Craig were easy to communicate with and provided very helpful information on making the most out of your experience in the area. Would definitely stay here again.
It was a pleasure working with you too. Look forward to your next visit.
A great home base for exploring the east side of Hawaii!!
Two families shared this house and loved it! The house comfortable, cute and spacious — we especially loved hanging out on the lanai, listening to the birds and the tree frogs and enjoying the constant breeze.
So glad you enjoyed your stay.
Kaloli Point is located along the coast in Hawaii Paradise Park (HPP). Shipman Beach is the closest beach (about 0.8 mile from the house) with a 2.5 mile easy hike to a sandy beach that is protected from ocean waves. A great spot for children. For some of the best snorkeling in the area go to Kapoho Tidepools (21 miles away). Hilo also has several wonderful beaches for swimming and snorkeling/scuba diving (Carlsmith and Richardson beach). For relaxing there is Ahalanui Hot springs (down the road from Kopoho Tide pools). The Hilo side of the Big Island is where the volcanic activity can be seen. Check out the lava flow from Pu'u O'o crater or head to Volcano National Park. Helicopter rides to the lava flow are also available at the Hilo airport.
