There are many great local restaurants, antique shops and other businesses , a tea room, and some great bars and clubs in New Port Richey downtown area. They often have many local Festivals and Parades throughout the year as well as events at the amphitheater in Sims Park. There is a great splash park/ playground there for kids as well as an ice cream and coffee shop.
Port Richey has a great waterfront park and local restaurants on the River. Whiskey Joe's with is beachfront area, Gill Dawg's where you can eat, rent kayaks or boats, listen to bands, play some corn hole, volley ball or horseshoes. It's the ultimate hangout spot. Hooter's is also there for watching some sport games or viewing the sights along the river ;)
Tarpons Springs offers the sponge docks. It is a local Greek community where you can find sponges, sea shells, great restaurants, bars and clubs as well as many different types of gift shops and local crafts. Plan to spend at least half a day to a full day to fully enjoy this area.
There are many great malls such as Wire Grass, Citrus Park, CountrySide, International Plaza in the surrounding area as well as the fairly new Tampa Outlets.
Make sure to visit Busch Gardens for a great day at the theme park with the best rollercoasters in Florida, and not as crowded as Disney or Universal. Busch Gardens is only 45 minutes from the house. Adventure Island is also there which is as water park. Tampa Zoo (formerly Lowry Park Zoo) is a great day with the kids as well as the Tampa Aquarium, Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI).
Go see a sporting event at one of our many professional sports franchises such as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, The Rays, or The Lightning.
See concerts at the Amphitheater at the Florida Fairgrounds, Amilee Arena, or other local venues.
The Hard Rock Casino is nearby for a day at the casino or Tampa Bay Downs for a day of betting on the horses. Derby Lane in St.Pete has the dog track and a card room.
The best thing to do when coming to stay is enjoy relaxing days by the pool or on the boat enjoying everything our local waters have to offer. Make sure to visit our local barrier islands only 5 miles off shore and enjoy the best beach in the area. Skip the crowds of Clearwater and enjoy an island and sand bar that is not busy during the week and is a great boater hang out on the weekends. There is great fishing and sea shelling in the waters between the house and the islands. Catch trout, snapper, sea bass, kingfish, tarpon, snook, flounder, Grouper, blowfish, spanish mackerel, redfish and drum. Great sea shelling and dolphins spotting every day, see sea turtles and best of all manatees. Also great for kite Surfing. The closest beach is Fred Howard Park by car it is 10 minutes away.
