Great location at a rundown unit
First, in full disclosure I should say that we owned a place up in Mammoth the last five years and I suppose my expectations are a little higher than the average renter. If you’re only going for the location, then this is your place as it is walking distance to Eagle lodge. With that said, this particular unit hasn’t been updated in probably 40 years. There are holes in the carpeting, the beds are like sleeping on box springs, there’s no central heating but rather little wall heaters and work sporadically, and plaster is coming off the walls and ceiling. To say this is rustic is an understatement. Although I know we rented it during high season, I suppose I expected a little more for over $5000 for 4 nights. The communication from the property manager was clear and concise, although I’m not sure what the several hundred dollars in cleaning fees was for when we had to clean all the dishes, take out all the trash and clear out the entire refrigerator before we left. We actually paid for 4 nights and left after 3 because all of us were so uncomfortable with the beds that we just wanted to get back home and eat the last night’s rent. Overall, if you’re just looking for a dive pad near the lifts, this is your place. Otherwise, I would suggest looking elsewhere.
