Great family accommodation
This was our Christmas House, 2015, and we loved it. We go from great grandad to 3-year-old.
The accommodation was exactly as described. The lounge was comfortable and large enough for us all; the kitchen was well equipped and friendly; everyone was happy with the bedrooms. It was warm always, and an evening fire in the lounge wood-stove was cosy.
For six days the wind was almost relentless, reaching 50 knots at some point each day. The noise was terrific. Car doors blew shut; rain flew at us horizontally. One day we spent holed up - happy and relaxed! But we enjoyed going in to Llandovery, to the West End Café, to the Castle Hotel and to the shops. We visited Carreg Cennen which was as wonderful as we remembered it, and stopped to walk happily around Llandeilo on our way back. We went to Christmas Mass in Llandovery.
Whenever the weather paused, we enjoyed walking around the valley; there are plenty of walks, and plenty of those are hard surfaces, the rain having left field paths essentially impassable. We saw red kites, of course, nuthatches, treecreepers, marsh tits, fieldfares and for one fleeting moment a peregrine falcon. When the wind finally stopped, the place was eerily silent, with just the sound of water oozing and birds singing. Remarkable.
It was a lovely week for us all.
