Trip to Blaye
The house was big and had plenty of room for our family. The vineyards are gorgeous and we enjoyed our stay!

A large, comfortable and inviting house in the middle of the Côte the Blaye wine region.
The house is a large, comfortable and well-appointed stone house set in the midst of the owners’ vineyards. Everything that was described was in the house and everything was in good working order. There were only two of us and we had much more space than we needed. It is perfect for a large family, a group of friends or three or four couples. It is about 40 minutes from Bordeaux, 45 minutes from the town of Saint-Émilion, a five minutes’ drive from the ferry which in 20 minutes takes you (and your car) to the Médoc region and about 80 minutes fro the Dune de Pilat and the ocean-side town of Arcachon. The nearest beach on the Atlantic is about 50 minutes away using the ferry. Upstairs, there are three tastefully decorated bedrooms with king-sized beds, each with its own bathroom, although two of the rooms share a toilet. There is also a “children’s room” with two single beds and no bathroom of its own. On the ground floor, there is a large and well-equipped kitchen with a huge table capable of seating 10-12 people. The sitting room, with French doors to the garden, is very comfortable. At one end of the room there is an old and very pretty wooden bed, which can be used both for sleeping and as a sofa. In a niche off the sitting room partitioned from the main room by a paravant (screen), there is another large bed. It looks comfortable, but affords little privacy. There is also a laundry room with washer, dryer, an ironing board and a very sophisticated iron. There are two WCs with wash basins and another shower. Although we did not use them, there is a barbecue, a “plancha” and two bicycles at the disposal of the guests of the house. The owners of the house also own three vineyards and a winery, which Mr. Raimond is happy to show his guests. Were I to return to the Bordeaux region for a longer stay, I would certainly stay at the Château Graulet again. I definitely recommend it for anyone wishing to visit this region. Mr. and Mrs. Raimond, the owners, gave us many helpful tips when we arrived. Luckily, we did not need to disturb them with any problems during our stay, but Mr. Raimond was very accessible and accommodating in making plans for our visit to his winery.

Lovely, huge gite!
The gite was lovely and a lot bigger than we expected, but there were only 4 of us who visited. The gite had everything we needed, and the view was lovely - across the road was a vineyard, but the gite is on a road where, although cars are few and far between, they do drive far too fast. We had a lovely few days at the beginning of our holiday but on the fourth day a taxi drove into us at speed (not near the gite, on the way to Jonzac) and the hire car we were in was flipped over and ended up upside down, and we were all taken to hospital. We got a cab back to the gite that night and the next day I messaged the owners to ask if they could recommend somewhere that could deliver food to us. 10 minutes later, Cathy showed up at the door, took me to a supermarket, waited for me, then drove me back to the gite. Fantastic client service! Sadly, we had to leave the gite early as we no longer had a car so had to move to the centre of Bordeaux for the remainder of our time in France - we would have loved to have stayed in the gite but it just wasn't possible without a car as it is very remote. The only small thing that would have made our stay better would have been some basics there on our arrival - tea, coffee, milk, bread, etc. I realise that some guests may only spend 1 or 2 nights, but we were there for 10 nights and all the shops were shut when we arrived so we couldn't even have a cuppa in the morning. Apart from that, everything was spot on - well done, ladies!

What makes this property unique

Large, comfortable stone house in the middle of a 30-ha vineyard. It is very quiet with a wonderful view, winery visits and tasting are available.
