Beautiful Lake Hickory cottage with spectacular water views. Pet friendly
About Lisa Harris
I am a designer by trade and have been in the furniture business for over 30 years. I love creating beautiful spaces and sharing them with people we enjoy. We built this cottage for a weekend get away and my husband and I ended up living in this cottage full time for several years and enjoyed having a peaceful retreat and access to the water all year round. The neighbors are very nice and it is a very safe location.
Lisa Harris purchased this Cottage in 2015
Why Lisa Harris chose Granite Falls
This is a unique property to enjoy all that Lake Hickory has to offer as well as it being an easy location to get to the mountains within about 45 minutes. It offers the best of all worlds, location and peaceful water scenery.
What makes this Cottage unique
The views from the Cottage include wildlife and lake vistas. Located right on Gunpowder cove. Our favorite thing to do is to sit on the deck in our most comfortable pub height chairs and just look over the lake at the wildlife and boats going by. Lake goers love the location and look of the cottage and wave as the go by in the summertime.

Nice little get away
The price was good until the extra charges were added. Overall we enjoyed our stay.
Thank you for coming. Yes VRBO adds a service fee that I cannot control. It is listed in the quote. I know you said you were new to this website. I do think we are very reasonable and hope you enjoyed your stay.
Wonderful weekend getaway
We had a wonderful weekend at your property. Although the house is small, it has everything you need to enjoy a relaxing stay. The dock is beautiful.
Great location for a getaway!
Small but comfy
The owner does such a lovely job of providing a clean, stylish, comfortable house and interior. Everything is up-to-date and everything works. She is VERY responsive to any/all inquiries. And I love that she allows dogs on all her properties. She has several cabins near Blowing Rock, too.
The cottage is in a lovely setting on a quiet inlet off Lake Hickory. All the people on the boats wave as they go by. We sat out on the deck a lot but indoors was also quite comfortable. We slept very well there. The bathroom is fabulous--I love the shower (rather than a tub) and there's good traction in the flooring.
The only reason for the 4/5 on 'location and neighborhood' is just that its placement off one of the main east-west connectors means that it takes longer to get out to the main streets or to grocery stores. But that also makes for a beautifully quiet location and it's in a nice neighborhood at the end of the street so no traffic goes by.
One other comment for anyone with mobility issues, there are 20+ steps down from parking to the cottage. Since they are wide and long steps, it is much easier than shallower steps but it is still a haul. And there isn't much room in the cottage for suitcases but a closet with drawers is provided. If you like working out of your suitcase, it will mean your suitcase is in the main living area. I have mobility issues and I would stay there again. It was just very comfortable and so much more connected to the surroundings than a hotel room.
Clean, great view, easy to find, perfect getaway for 2. Cozy, dock outside your door, town is only minutes away. Boat and jet ski rentals super close by. Fish or swim off the dock if you want! My only complaint would be my height lol The space is laid out very well, but I'm short. Some shelves were a bit out of my reach lol The cottage feels brand new, upgrades on everything. Just book it...you wont be disappointed!!
Peaceful Cozy Cottage
We loved our stay at Yarmouth Cottage. Like the other reviews say, this is a small house, but the owner's made such efficient use of the space that it doesn't feel small. Plus we spent most of our time sitting on the dock enjoying the views of the lake and waving at all the friendly people going by on their boats. This house has everything you need for your stay and the linens and towels are high-end. When we come back to Hickory, we will definitely rent this house again!
Located close to Hickory and the Furniture outlets and about 45 minutes to the Blue ridge Parkway and Blowing Rock with hiking and mountain vistas, about an hour from Asheville and the Biltmore House.
