Just down from our tree-lined street, in this truly traditional small southern town, you can find a home cooked lunch, drugstore counter milkshake, deli, bakery, or full-service restaurant. Across the road from the pizza shop is the State Cinema with first-run movies. The Green Room, Old Post Office Playhouse, and Newton Auditorium offer outstanding productions and presentations throughout the year. Locally run boutiques offer a bit of shopping for the ladies. All of these things are within 3 blocks of the house. However, if you are looking for “restaurant row”, it can be found along with a 15 screen theater and a mall only 10-15 minutes north in Hickory.
