About Catherine Bennett, Realtor®, Real Estate Broker & Owner
Hi, I'm Catherine Bennett, a full-time real estate broker. After showing and selling hundreds of waterfront properties here since 1996, it was time to find a waterfront getaway of our own! Robert is an architect, professional engineer and Class A contractor so renovating this home is a delight for us. We're constantly updating and decorating, and are eager to share this special property with you.

Why Catherine Bennett, Realtor®, Real Estate Broker & Owner chose Lancaster
This property appealed to us because: First, it is located right on the Corrotoman River, my favorite river because it is very clean and excellent for fishing and boating. It is THE river for sailboaters! By 'right on the water', I literally mean it is built about 25 feet from the water. Waterfront homes are now allowed to be built no closer than 100 feet from the waterfront. Second, it has an amazing tidal pond that serves as a grocery store for the local waterfowl and habitat for ducks, otter, and other fascinating woodland creatures. You'll be amazed at the drama that nature unveils daily, including the awesome birdwatching right here on the Atlantic flyway. Third, it has a floorplan that makes it cozy for a couple or excellent for more people with gathering and private spaces. Two fireplaces make it charming in winter and the wrap around porch with screened porch below make outdoor living in Virginia's excellent weather ideal. And because I love tall rooms, the vaulted ceiling in the front half of the first floor makes it wonderful! Fourth, it has woods on two sides, the river on the third side and on the fourth side, up the hill, is one neighbor. You can't get much more privacy! Fish Tales is 1.3 acres, including the tidal pond that is accreting, the opposite of eroding! Fifth, it is in Corrotoman By The Bay, a wonderful little community with a terrific salt-water swimming pool, beautiful professional quality tennis courts with pickleball. Free exercise equipment and wi-fi at the clubhouse, playground, and many other features. Parties, parades and other events are highlights of this area and the neighbors are a true delight.
What makes this House unique
Most guests comment on the incredible views throughout the house of one of the most beautiful rivers in Virginia. There's occasional kayakers, fishing boats, and sailboats that distract you from the awesome birds and wildlife who live on and follow the river. They also love how beautiful the house is and the wooded setting. Best of all, they love that we welcome your family dog! The picture is of Robert with our darling Old English Sheepdog, Fanny, enjoying a few minutes of snuggle time in the living room at Fish Tales. The sofas are leather so they are dog-friendly.

Fish Tales was exactly what we needed to get away! It was quiet, restful and well appointed. Catherine is responsive and easy to work with. We'll be back!
Wonderful and relaxing spur-of-the-moment vacation!
My husband and I, our 19 year old twin boys (men) and two dogs had a great time - something for everyone! Fish Tales was great and location beautiful. There was plenty to do at the house or as a tourist in surrounding area, highly recommend it!
Peace and quiet

Great family fun at Fish Tales!
My family enjoyed our stay at Fish Tales. It was very relaxing, and we took advantage of the kayaks, nearby pool, and even went to the local fireman’s carnival. Very charming place!
Our short visit to Northern Neck Virginia
We loved our stay there. We would not have packed as much if we would have known all that was there. Beautiful mornings and sunsets. Great place to stay. My boys did not have any luck fishing close by or at the pier, maybe not the right time, It was very warm. I cannot express enough gratitude to the owner, who is very sweet. Thank you!!!
Great house. Beautiful view. We had a great time at the house and the pool was really nice as well
