Ideal as stop over
Exactly what we wanted for travel through France to 🇪🇸
Homely gite on small family farm
This gite is ideal for exploring this part of the Loire Valley, a few km from the picturesque town of Langeais. Good for a couple or young family, well equipped, small private garden with BBQ
Clean tidy little cottage
Nice little cottage, well decorated and furnished. Comfortable bed. Kitchen well equipped, shower room very clean and modern. Host Amelie very pleasant.
Disappointed that the property seemed to be very isolated, although at the end of a village.
Had to drive several miles to get an evening meal.
Used as a stopping off point for 4 nights on our way home to the UK from the Dordogne
Quiet Retreat
We stayed five nights. It was the first time we had booked a cottage to stay more than a couple of nights. We are so pleased we did. The cottage had everything we needed. It was quiet and peaceful. Amelie and her father were very friendly and helpful.
Comfortable, well equipped property
We enjoyed our stay in the Loire Valley. Amelie was very friendly and welcoming. The property was situated in a great area, away from it all in the wonderful French countryside. The gite itself was compact and not as large as the website photos lead us to believe. It is a one storey apartment, with a well equipped kitchen and comfortable lounge area. The bedroom had a queen and 2 single beds but would have been quite claustrophobic for 4 people in our opinion. The private garden was good although in need of some TLC gardeningwise. The shared pool was excellent although we had to ask for a key to the gate to use it. The River Loire and village of Brehemont is just 2.5 km away, a comfortable 20 minute walk through the fields. There was a Boulangerie (excellent bread and cakes) and a hotel/bar (funny opening hours) and fish restaurant (recommended but book first) along with the obligatory church. All alongside the river with views. Lots of interesting places to visit and all within an hour or so drive. If you are a cyclist it's ideal with many designated cycleways and quiet roads
Piece and quiet
A very peaceful and relaxing week was had at this lovely gite. The garden and surrounding fields and lanes, made it perfect for walking with our dog. The gite is rustic with most amenities catered for. The shower was efficient, kitchen well stocked with cups, glasses, cutlery, pots and pans etc. WiFi was sporadic, but then one is out in the sticks somewhat. We found the bed a little firm for our taste and a couple more pillows would have been welcome. The little swimming pool was a great treat, especially with the exceptionally hot weather. The local baker's was superb, the two village restaurants nice, being right beside the Loire river, but the better of the two disappointingly only opens on Saturday nights and we were refused a table at 1.35 one lunchtime, as they had finished serving! Finding the gite with the correct map info is not too bad, but the roads do get very small near the end, so do your research. With the heat and the dog, we did very little other than sit in the garden, but we did go to an excellent chateau only a few miles away and the pear shop in Rivarennes is a lovely view of local regional food history. We opted to pay an extra 30 euros to have the gite cleaned when we left, rather than do it ourselves. A word of advice, take some basic supplies and remember the French shops and restaurants have very different opening times than the UK. The open air market on Monday was brilliant and the local supermarket has everything and more you could ever need.
