Wonderful Apartment on the Rue des Martyrs
We found Rochechouart to be a warm and cozy refuge from the damp and cold of Thanksgiving week in Paris. Rue des Martyrs is, as advertised, a vibrant village with Parisians of all ages far outnumbering us tourists. The street has an astonishing variety of bakeries, food shops (both prepared and ready to cook), jewel-box florist shops, wine stores (Nicholas and smaller providers) and myriad greengrocers. We were able to routinely prepare both breakfast and supper in the best equipped kitchen we've ever experienced in years of renting VRBO and Air BNB properties in Europe and the US (lunch out was our main meal of the day). The one bedroom apartment is attractively decorated, spacious and comfortable for two adults. It was an ideal home away from home.
Communication from Jean Pierre and Beatrice was welcoming, timely and thorough. They offered many helpful suggestions about bistros, wine shops, bakeries and greengrocers. Maria came quickly to check us in early and made sure we were fully oriented before turning us loose for the week. All communication was warm, charming and totally in French.
The two flights of stairs to the apartment and the walkable neighborhood (including the climb to Montmarte) alllowed us to take advantage of the many gastronomic treats that Paris offers.
Perfect Home Base
We loved everything about this property including the location on Rue des Martyrs. The aesthetics were pleasing...cream walls and white woodwork served the perfect backdrop for the owner’s artwork and fun accessories adding pops of color. Beatrice welcomed us to the apartment and carefully showed us where everything was located including any needed instructions. The kitchen and bathroom was well stocked so we did not need to purchase the basics or toiletries. The bed was comfortable and the shower had excellent pressure. We loved our stay and hope to return to the apartment!
Bel été à vous et à votre époux,
A très bientôt,
This apartment was lovely. Well equipped except that the coffee pot was not easy to use nor was the TV. We actually didnt know how to use either. The owner left a diagram for the use of the TV but it was too complex to understand. The nice lady Maria who checked us on spoke no English. The bed was very comfortable. The shower area was new and the only suggestion we have would be to install some type of pole or hanger for your shampoo, soap, etc. There was nowhere to keep it. We felt safe and were pleased. Other than the few things mentioned the apartment was awesome!
Désolé Susan, vous êtes la seul.
Mon appartement a été refait à neuf et est parfaitement équipé et meublé.
La cafetière et la TV sont d'un fonctionnement très simple.
Quant à la douche, elle est très fonctionnelle.
Perfectly situated little flat, good for a couple
The apartment is in a wonderful neighbourhood, you can walk to the grand boulevards or Montmartre and you have metro and bus really close. We were greeted by Maria in a most welcoming way- the apartment was perfectly clean and very well kept and the kitchen provided everything you could possibly need. As it is situated in the backyard you don‘t have a view, but it is absolutely quiet. Communication with the owner was uncomplicated and friendly.
Merci pour votre confiance
Beautiful, stylish apartment
This apartment was a great find for us. It's on a busy stretch of Rue de Martyrs with dozens of shops, cafes, and restaurants close by, and a quick walk to the metro. The host, Jean-Pierre, was extremely kind and responsive. He has decorated the apartment beautifully with linens, modern furniture, and his own art.
We had to spend a lot of time in the apartment because we had our baby, and were lucky because it's spacious for a one bedroom, and the kitchen, toilet room, and shower/sink room are all on the opposite end of the apartment as the bedroom. So those sleeping aren't disturbed by activity in the other half.
We highly recommend the apartment for short or long stays (we were there for three weeks). You'll see an exciting area of central Paris, and look forward to coming home each night. We can't thank Jean-Pierre enough for his hospitality and warmth.
Merci Daniel pour votre appréciation.
J'en suis ravi.
La voisine continue de parler de votre magnifique bébé...
A comfortable apartment in a great location
We rented this spacious one-bedroom apartment for a month and found it to be attractive, comfortable, and convenient. It is well-furnished with washing machine, dishwasher, and heated towel bar, as well as small kitchen appliances. The location is great, in a neighborhood full of food and wine shops, boutiques, and restaurants, and the Metro is not far. We enjoyed our morning croissants from the bakery just 120 steps from our door. The street life was lively, with people taking their aperitifs on the terraces of the cafes and others doing their marketing. We went out one Sunday morning to find a flea market in full swing right outside our door. Our hosts were gracious and welcoming. We recommend this apartment with enthusiasm.
Rue des Martyrs has multiple shops, restaurants, bakeries and pastries ...
We particularly recommend the Café Marlette, the Daily Bread, the Delmontel bakery, the Nysa wine cellar, the Kusmi tea, the delicious pastry of Sébastien Gaudard, Rose Bakery ..... without forgetting the Jam Room, Naturalia .. ....
A few minutes on foot, you are in Montmartre, at the Sacré-Coeur, at the Théâtre de l'Atelier, boulevard Haussmann then you discover the department stores (Printemps, Galeries Lafayette), the Opéra Garnier, then by walking another ten minutes arrive at Place Colette, the Palais Royal, the Louvre .... and a short break at Café Marly before crossing the Seine and visiting the Musée d'Orsay.
Good walk !
