Lovely stay in the French countryside
We had a great stay in Nathalie's property. All was as advertised and photographed; quite spacious, comfortable, and very clean. Nathalie's charming parents met us to show us the flat and the garden and all amenities that were available for our use. The village is cute and has a boulangerie. We visited many tourist spots in Bourdeaux and Perigord during our stay.
60th birthday treat!
This was our first visit to this region of France. We loved the countryside and villages. The people were very friendly everywhere we went. There are lots of interesting places to visit nearby. We found the accommodation in the gite to be of a very high standard and well equipped. The garden area was very relaxing and we loved sitting out in the evenings with the vines.
Nathalie’s place surpassed our expectations, as did her lovely hospitality. She has thought of every detail: basketball, tennis rackets and bicycles. She provided books and maps and gifts from the region including a lovely bottle of wine. I cannot say enough good things about our weeklong stay. Merci, Nathalie!
Very clean gite with everything you could need there.
Nathalie was very welcoming when we arrived at the gite. It is a peaceful place to relax between exploring the historic and dramatic places around, a perfect location. We enjoyed family table tennis tournaments and bbq in the garden surrounded by the merlot vines. The boulangerie in the village has fresh bread and croissants every morning and we enjoyed walking there with the children. Cycling was easy, very flat terrain and a joy to cycle in the beautiful countryside.
We couldn’t have asked for more. Thank you Nathalie for being a wonderful hostess!
A wonderful setting with character
We stayed in Nathalie's chateau in September. It was so much more than we expected. Everything about it is fabulous. Nathalie was a gracious host, and we spent a lovely evening sipping wine and discussing life in France. She left us alone to our own devices, but was there for us if we needed her. The chateau is huge, easily sleeps 5. The kitchen is extremely well equipped...think of it...it's there! The rooms are full of character and memories past.
The local baker supplied us with croissants and fresh bread...and a small shop with provisions (incl wine!). St Philippe was a lovely area and a great base to visit the beautiful surrounding areas....A pure delight.
A quiet retreat nestled in the beautiful Bordeaux vin yards
This is our third time with HomeAway in France and yet again it had exceeded expectations. Clos du champ mars is a fabulous gite which situated in the charming sleepy little village of St Philippe d'aiguille. The house itself is excellently furnished and has everything you need for a relaxing unwinding stay. There are three large reception rooms including a stunnning library/dining room and a sunny front room but the room that we used the most was the large kitchen diner. Nathalie the owner has a property adjacent to the gite and she was very friendly and welcoming, giving us some useful local knowledge and tips. The garden of the property is literally in the vineyard and has beautiful views along the straight lines of the heavily burdened vines. The location is also a major plus point as it is rural whilst still being very close to places like St Emilion and Bordeaux. Overall our stay in Clos champs du mars was everything we wanted and more and we couldn't recommend it highly enough.
Nathalie's parents are sometimes around and they are most welcoming and friendly!
