About this property

"Spoon Rest" - 30 Acres Nestled in the Nantahala National Forest

We have a charming 2-bedroom, 2-bath cedar post and beam house that is nestled in the Nantahala National Forest. It's the perfect weekend getaway from Atlanta. There’s 30 acres of beautifully maintained property that is surrounded by the park and will beckon you to explore. Access trails to the Bartram Trail are only steps from the front gate. You can relax on the front deck and watch deer graze, turkey wander, and red tail hawks soar. The expansive view from the deck looks at Scaly Mountain.
Our home is very comfortable and spacious with lovely décor. A large master suite with a king and a loft bedroom with a queen bed. There are two full baths, one with a claw foot tub. There is a fully equipped kitchen but the gourmet fare in Highlands is well worth the 30-minute scenic drive. Other local attractions include zip lining, gem mining, white water rafting, fly-fishing, hiking, winter tubing, skiing, ice skating, scenic drives, and live theatre at the Smokey Mountain Performing Arts Center in Franklin and The Highlands Playhouse in Highlands. Back at home, if you find yourself inside, there is also a HD flat screen and Highspeed Wi-Fi with Roku Streaming.
Enjoy a holiday at “Spoon Rest”. We think you’ll want to return again and again.

Relaxing Getaway
We had a wonderful time at Spoon Rest. The property is beautiful! It is off the path a bit but the road isnt bad. The view is great and the oweners are very welcoming. Our dog loved being able to really stretch his legs there. We will be coming back!

Another perfect getaway!
We stayed at Spoonrest for Christmas in 2022 and couldn’t wait to come back this year! Bill and Heidi are the kindest hosts, going above and beyond to make you feel at home. The views are gorgeous, I hardly left the deck. If you’re looking for a peaceful mountain getaway, this is it!

Game Changer for Us!
For us, a Get-Away, is a time to reconnect, recharge, and reflect. Spoon Rest, was the most perfect place for doing this. The awesome deck that overlooks the large green meadow, the beautiful sunsets, the quietness, the wildlife, and the wonderful accommodations made this get-away one of the most memorable we have had. It truly is a very special place and one that we want to return to soon. Our Golden Retriever, Sadie, agrees!

Rustic hideaway
The home has a rustic look and is located a bit off the main paved roads. It is nice for up to four adults. It is well equipped with linins and kitchen stuff for cooking. The setting is peaceful and quiet. It has two bedrooms, but one is a loft accessed via a spiral staircase. There is a nice carport large enough for two cars. We enjoyed our stay. The only real issue we had was negotiating the long narrow, gravel road leading up the mountain to the home.
