With only a 2-minute walk back to the house, you can go back and forth to the beach for breaks with ease.
You'll have a fully stocked kitchen, but you also have dozens of bars and restaurants within a 10-minute MAX walk. Many guests stay without a car as not only is everything downtown a short walk, Bert's 24-market is 200 steps out the front door.

When ready to head to the beach for some fun, sun, and sand, grab the supplied beach chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, sand toys, and take the path to beautiful Folly Beach. During high season, the access leads to the most popular (lifeguards in season) part of the beach.

When you are beached-out for the day, return home and use the Solar-powered outdoor shower with foot rinse to free yourself and the beach toys from the sand and the salt. If you are a sunset freak (like me), check the sunset time and decide which Folly location will be providing your sunset of choice.
If you are enjoying a relaxing evening at home, use your grill master skills and throw some dinner on the charcoal grill if you desire. The enclosed porch contains spacious table seating for six. Get the blender started for a pitcher of margaritas, dim the lights, and hang out on the comfortable wicker chairs or grab one of the board games for a family fun night. If you decide on carry-out, all Folly restaurants are a quick walk for pick up and return and no need to mess with parking. If a sweet tooth hits, you are only 200 steps from fresh-baked goods and ice cream at Bert's 24-hour market!

If going out is on your agenda, you are only 5 minutes from Center street - the heart of the action on Folly Island. With options such as: steak, seafood, sandwiches, Italian, Mexican, American, and other cuisine, Folly offers enough variety to satisfy any palette!

Spend the rest of your evening enjoying everything that Folly social life has to offer. The bar scene provides a variety of island drinks along with the friendliest mix of multi-generation tourists and locals.  Bar hopping will give you a variety of great conversation, people watching, and a wide selection of live music to dance the night away. Various activities such as karaoke, trivia, and bingo are scattered among the island's local establishments as well.

As you return the few blocks home, stop by Bert's for a midnight snack or night-cap beverages. Then head to the sunroom, dim the lights, and in the still of the night, open the windows and listen to the waves. 

Folly boasts a variety of other activities such as: fishing, sailing, and dolphin watching charters, surfboard, kayak, golf cart, and paddle board rentals, beach combing, shelling, and shark-tooth hunting.

Rent a golf cart (several rental options within a block of Sweet C), head 4 miles east to the Lighthouse Inlet Heritage Preserve or 2 miles west to the Folly Beach County Park. There are two children's playgrounds on Folly, and also a tennis court. (Rackets and various other sporting equipment is in shed.)
While you can spend your entire vacation without leaving the island (or getting in your car) visiting the surrounding areas offers many more beautiful, historical, educational, and memorable vacation opportunities.

See the 400-500 year old Angel Oak tree on John's Island and many things in Charleston. Choose from sight-seeing boat tours/harbor cruises, horse-drawn carriage tours, museums, Fort Sumter, South Carolina Aquarium, and a variety of ghost/haunted & historic tours (walking, bus, and boat.)

** Folly Beach is a smaller residential community with full-time residents and VERY strict and new short-term rental ordinances. My place is very convenient to downtown and the beach, but also among residents. It's perfect for multi-generation families, couples, laid-back friends, seniors, and business travelers, but not-so-much for the "here to party" groups. **
