Mornings at Villa Andalucia are wonderful enjoying your delicious home cooked breakfast made by Maria Monday through Friday. Breakfast is served on the terraza overlooking the pool and garden or at the bistro table next to the fountain, take your pick. Sip your fresh brewed Costa Rican coffee from the coffee bar while you listen to the birds or howler monkeys that occasionally stop by.

Amazing honeymoon destination!
About the Owner
Gary and I have lived in Tamarindo since 2001. We drove to Costa Rica with our son and another family from California for the adventure of a lifetime that lives on today. Upon arriving to Costa Rica after our three month trip through Latin America, we started a new chapter in our lives. An unlikely couple, Gary is from New Jersey and I, a native Californian, it is our love of travel and adventure that keeps us happy and laughing. Prior to moving to Costa Rica, Gary spent his first career of 30 years in Medicine and I was a teacher and Interior Designer. Once we arrived in Tamarindo laying in hammocks all day for 3 months was just not enough. So, Gary ventured into a new career in real estate to spice things up for the next 10 years. Gary retired once again in 2012 as one of the busiest most successful and well respected realtors in our area. In 2007, when our son Brooks left for college, we were lonely and thought it might be fun to rent out one of our casitas that we used only a couple times a year for family. Little did we know how much fun it would be and the friends we would make along the way. We invite you to come be our guest and see what life is like living in Tamarindo, Costa Rica. We will show you this lovely country and Tamarindo through our eyes and give you, in our humble opinion, the best places to eat and send you on the adventure tours that best fit your vacation style. This is our family business and Gary, Brooks and I take great pleasure and pride in giving you the best vacation we can deliver. Come see us, we would love to have you as our guest. Amazing honeymoon destination!
We recently stayed at Villa Andalucia and had an incredible stay! We arrived in Tamarindo with absolutely nothing planned because we were sick of planning our wedding, and Jolene and Gary gave us wonderful recommendations throughout our trip. The accommodations were beautiful and breakfast was delicious. The town/beach is a quick walk away with plenty of good restaurants and fun things to do! We had an awesome time snorkeling with Brooks and utilized the provided beach chairs and boogie boards to hang out at the beach. Jolene and Gary recommended an adventure day excursion including horseback riding, tubing down the rapids, zip-lining through the canyons and ended with a mud bath and hot springs. We had so much fun getting to do all of those activities in one day! Some restaurants we enjoyed included La Palapa, El Chilito, and El Capitan Suiza. Hoping to visit again in the future!
Beautiful property, and amazing hosts
My husband and I recently spent a week at this property in Tamarindo. It was perfect. The apartment was beautifully decorated, as is the rest of the property - it's the kind of place we all want to live in. We could easily walk to restaurants and the beach in five or ten minutes. The kitchen and fridge in our apartment were very useful amenities. Each morning my husband would smoke a cigar in their back garden, and each morning he was visited by a couple of howler monkeys.
However, what made this stay one of our best at a VRBO property is the family that owns and runs it. Jolene and Gary go well above and beyond expectations in their home. They were quick to answer any questions we had before we arrived, and their knowledge of the area is outstanding. Their restaurant suggestions were all perfect. They set up all our excursions for us - all we had to do was get in the car, which picked us up at the property - and go. The breakfasts Maria makes are delicious and provided a perfect start to our days. I've never felt so pampered before in a vacation rental.
I usually search through many properties when searching for a vacation place, but this property was the first on my list, and I was enchanted with the photos. I am so happy that this property caught my eye. It's as beautiful in real life as it is in the posted pictures.
We're already discussing when we can return. We loved the area, which in large part was due to the excellent care with which we were treated. Everything Jolene and Gary do is with the goal of making the vacation easy, low-stress, and fun. If you are looking for a fun, easy place to vacation, look no further!
Thanks, Jolene and Gary!
We were on our honeymoon and exploring Costa Rica. We stayed at some high-end resorts which were very nice but none compared to staying with Gary & Jolene. The hospitality and breakfasts were top notch and the accommodation is beautiful and romantic! When we arrived, we parked our car and walked everywhere as they are conveniently located near town yet in a quiet area. Our only regret is that we did not stay longer with them! Gary & Jolene, thank you for making our stay so memorable and special!
My husband and I recently returned from an amazing trip and stay at Villa Andalucia. Gary and Jolene were extremely hospitable and amazing hosts. We felt comfortable from the moment we stepped on the property and had access to anything we needed during our time there. The breakfasts were amazing on the patio and the pool was a great place to relax. Gary and Jolene had so many personal touches on the property and made it very welcoming and safe. Highly recommend any stay at Villa Andalucia.
A Spectacular Vacation all Wrapped up in a 5-Star Casita
Villa Andalucía has it all. The facility itself is truly a magnificent work of art. Every nook and cranny of the place is rich in color, fauna and artistic creation. The location in town is great. Maria's breakfasts each morning cannot be topped by anyplace in Tamarindo. Details like setting up transportation to & from the airport, running you to the grocery store shortly after arrival, recommending restaurants for dinner and to purchase something to drink by the pool at the Duty Free store at the airport are all thoughtfully covered with you. There are too many details to mention! Like, for instance, the little blue rope by the hammock under the ceiling fan so you could rock yourself while lounging. The Casita itself is very comfortable and lingering on the grounds was something we made a point to include in every single day. Hanging out in the pool and even playing dominoes in the rain in the Rancho (must get a rancho!) were amongst our very favorite things on our trip. There was a TV in our casita along with DVD's, but that would have been a prenominal waste of time in this off-the-chart setting. Then, there was Brooks. He is the Son of the Proprietors Jolene and Gary and a 15 year resident of Tamarindo. Brooks was our way-off-the-beaten-path tourguide extraordinaire. He took us to an remote, empty beach where we snorkeled with schools of brightly colored fish and, when we left, ours were the only footprints in the sand. By comparison, we also took a "Sunset Cruise" (never as nice as they sound) snorkeling trip crammed on a catamaran with 50 of our closest friends and sailed around a point and met another catamaran and everyone jumped in to snorkel at the same time and the fish all went adios. Brooks took us on a River Cruise, through a Sugar Cane farm, arranged surfing lessons and warned us off of the tourist traps. We need to go back to continue these adventures asap!! Villa Andalucía has our highest recommendation.
Amazing!! I wish I could give Casa Andalucia 10 stars!
If you are going to Tamarindo, you absolutely HAVE to stay at Casa Andalucia! Jolene and Gary made it feel like we were staying with family. The rooms are all spotless, beautifully appointed, and extremely comfortable. Having coffee on the porch in the morning while watching birds and monkeys is the perfect way to start the day in Costa Rica. If you want to snorkel or catch a glimpse of Costa Rican wildlife, Brooks is the man to see! He showed us so much of Costa Rica that we want to live there forever. Thank you to all who made our trip as close to perfect as a vacation can get!
From the Owner
“We have been traveling to Costa Rica for over 25 years. From the moment I stepped off the airplane on our first trip here I knew we would retire here one day. What we did not know was that the house we originally built to sell would turn out to be our dream home and fulfill my life long desire to have a Bed and Breakfast. We love Tamarindo for its great beaches, sunsets, wildlife, adventure activities and of course the vast array of restaurants. We have traveled all over the world and have never found a beach town we liked more. Tamarindo is small and unspoiled and is one place in Costa Rica and the world where you can go, do and see it all in one place on your vacation. We are the perfect property for honeymooner's, babymooner's, executive surf trips and those looking for a quiet, relaxing or active getaway. Arrive as guest, leave as friends!”
Activity and Interests
We have a private surf instructor on staff who also does snorkel tours and has the only spearfishing lesson around. Brooks also does sports fishing tours on the new Boat, the 'Pica Pica.' For you birders and nature lovers out there, Brooks can arrange special wildlife tours for you in the afternoons or take you to the incredible Palo Verde Wetlands.

“Our colonial architecture with furniture, art and accessories from our travels make for a warm, eclectic, welcoming environment. Plus, you can't beat the pool and garden areas to relax after a day at the beach or a canopy tour. You will love your 'Casitas for two,' that was decorated lovingly over the years for your pleasure and comfort. I love how our Villa has many different areas to enjoy, the pool, the rancho, the bistro area and the grand patio, something for everyone. Of course Maria's great breakfast is definitely the icing on the cake each day.”
