Come experience the country life at Southern Pines Equestrian Farm. Barn Apartment with Kitchen, Dining Area, One Bedroom (Queen) plus Loft -twin w/ trundle, Den and Relaxing Screen Porch. Farm is located in wonderful St. Augustine, two miles from I95, two miles from outlets, twelve miles to beach and ten miles to historic St. Augustine. We are a working horse farm... Riding lessons, barn tours and barn experiences, along with "barn hand for a day" are available for a fee. Book your stay today!

Perfection

We stayed in the barn for two nights and we absolutely loved every second! From the peaceful atmosphere of the beautiful interior to the serenity of enjoying morning coffee or evening dinner on the porch, everything was perfect! Such a quiet and peaceful place yet close to everything St. Augustine has to offer. Angeline is not only an excellent host but an amazing person. Thanks for everything! We will definitely go back and would love to take our family with us.

Quiet, relaxation in the country!

This stay was exactly what we were looking for! Quiet, relaxation in the country! We loved the horses & the barn cats! Angelia was so knowledgeable & we enjoyed learning about the horses. Lola & her peppermint smile cracked us up!! We would definitely stay here again, we loved it!!

Wonderful trip!

We had a wonderful stay! We were only there for a few days but we loved it. Only a short drive to St Augustine. My girls really enjoyed staying near the horses and playing with the barn cats. Angela was amazing. We booked the barn experience for our girls and she was so informative and patient!! My kids loved it!!!

Clean, peaceful & lovely

I stayed with my mother & sister. We were in town celebrating my mothers birthday. The owner was extremely accommodating even though we were checking in quite late (9 pm) after a 3 hr drive. She met us upon arrival & provided us with a tour of the house even though she was trying to get the horses in for the night. The house was quite clean & adorably decorated. Stocked with coffee (k cups), creamers & bottled water. The property is BEAUTIFUL!! A screened in porch & fire pit area are wonderful & we enjoyed sitting outside each night before going to bed. It is a working horse farm & I really enjoyed going out each morning to see the horses (and the adorable & very friendly barn cat). The bed was very comfortable & the shower was wonderful. Check out was a breeze. I would absolutely stay here again next time I’m in St. Augustine. Thank you Angela. It was an absolute pleasure.

Grownup Girls’ Trip

The farm is in a beautiful setting and very quiet! Angela greeted us when we arrived and showed us around the apartment and property. We enjoyed seeing the animals and petting them! We slept well, cooked our breakfast each morning, and played games at the table in the evenings-a great trip!

Welcome! We are Angela and Scott Armstrong. We purchased Southern Pines Equestrian (formerly Sunshine Acres) in July of 2018 to be closer to our two daughters and grandchildren who live in Jacksonville, FL. After moving to St. Augustine, I soon fell head over heels in love with my beloved horse, Amazing Grace “Gracie,” who came with the property. This began my love of horses and desire to revive and renovate the property for other horses and their owners to enjoy. Knowing that I couldn’t do it alone, I quickly enlisted family members to help with the task of running a horse farm. My dad, Carl Lowery, known as “Popsi”, is the main caretaker of the facility. Retiring after working 54+ years taking care of multiple golf courses in different states, he was the natural choice to maintain the grassy pastures, grow healthy snacks in the horse garden, and work on equipment that seems to always need fixing. It is so wonderful to have three generations contributing to the success of the barn when my son, Alec is home from college and working on the farm and my daughter, Courtney works on the business side.
