Great location, but . . .
We did a Sunday to Saturday stay at the Wyndham Patriot's Place. The location was EXCELLENT for visiting Williamsburg attractions, as it took less than 5 minutes by car to reach the historic area. Lots of restaurants in the area, too.
The unit itself was exactly as described. We ended up being assigned a handicapped accessible suite (though we did not request one) so the bathroom was a bit larger than expected and there were two showers (one rather large one) instead of just one. This was a nice perk with kids! Otherwise, the accommodations were sufficient but ok. The outside appearance was definitely better than in the unit. There was some excessive wear and tear usage (think chipping paint, worn carpet, etc.) that didn't bother me too much as a renter but would probably get on my nerves if I had invested money as a timeshare owner. Provisions were a bit odd, too. In the "stocked" kitchen we had pots (but no frying pan), a coffeemaker and coffee (but no coffee filters), dish soap and a dish washer (but no sponge or dishwasher detergent). Having stayed in other timeshare rentals before, I found this to be stingy and perplexing. They provided us with sheets for the pull out sofa, but no blanket or pillows. After texting (as instructed) and then calling housekeeping, we had to wait for over an hour for pillows and a blanket to be delivered - probably the most annoying part of the whole trip, as my kids were tired and waiting to go to bed. Also along the lines of stinginess . . . for our nearly weeklong stay we had four towels provided for our family of 4 (thank goodness the unit had a washer/dryer in unit! - I figured it was faster to just wash them) and one roll of T.P. in addition to whatever was on the roll when we arrived . . . again, this didn't work for my family of 4. This "stinginess" seemed to be a themed with the resort - when we visited the pool late one afternoon (think 4ish) the "dirty" pool towel bin was overflowing but there wasn't a clean towel to be had on the pool deck at all! Again, I was relieved that I had brought my own beach towels from home.
Overall I would give the resort 3.5 stars. The location was ideal and the room was mostly sufficient for our needs. I was also glad that I was not forced into a lengthy sales pitch during my stay. If I rented again I would know that I needed to supply my own basic provisions, something I am unaccustomed to when renting at time share resorts.
