About the property

1032 sq ft, 1 bedroom, 1 bath cottage on 2.3 acres, sleep 2

Aloha,

We are a non-smoking property.

This peaceful cottage is perfect for couples or close friends. It has been completely renovated with a mix of modern and vintage amenities. The 1030' sq foot house features privacy yet is still only a 5 minute drive from world class surf beaches. The front porch looks out into a Banana garden while the house is bordered with Sunrise Papaya, Areca palms and exotic clumping bamboos. Flowering plants include Ginger, Hibiscus, Heliconia and Plumeria. Avocado, Kukui nut, Pomelo, and Banyan Trees among others produce fresh air to breathe.. Our peaceful setting, Tempur-Pedic mattress, and Hawaiian trade winds are rejuvenating after a hard day at the beach. You may also interested our 3 bedroom ranch-style house. It is deeper on the property and offers more peace and quite. Hope to see you here!

Lush, private, clean, & comfortable get-a-way

  • 4 of 5

My wife and I stayed at this property for a week in February of 2017.

On the plus side..

Excellent communications: The owner provided excellent communications regarding the reservation, confirmations, driving instructions, rental usage, and recommendations to local dining and events.

Very clean & well stocked: The rental was very clean and tidy. It was well furnished for a party of two. Everything we needed was onsite.

Very private. The driveway is shared with another rental. However, the two rentals are well sheltered from each other. During out stay, we had the entire compound to ourselves which was very pleasant.

Lush and green: The property is very lush with mature trees, bamboo, and other plants. There are fruit bearing trees on the property as well as ripe bananas.

On the minus side…

Noisy neighbors: The rental is closely situated next to the property line. The neighbor, while nice, if very busy during the day conducting improvements on his lot. This included use of a backhoe, chain saw, and other power equipment. They also have three dogs and horse. The dogs frequently bark especially in the early morning hours and several times during our stay the neighbors left the radio on for hours. We were not sure if they were home or not, of it they left the radio on to sooth the animals. In fairness to the renter, obviously, he cannot control what his neighbors do, but future renters should be aware of the possible noise.

Gardening needed: Many of the plants, palms, and trees had dead limbs, fronds, and leaves. Decaying fruit litter the ground near the front fence of the property. Again, the property was very lush with vegetation which is excellent for privacy and atmosphere, however, that means that someone must actively maintain the yard.

Bathroom sink issues: The bathroom has his/her sinks. Upon our arrival one of the faucets began to fail. We notified the owner and he immediately sent a plumber to investigate. Unfortunately, the faucet required a replacement part that was not immediately available, thus we lost use of the sink for the better part of our rental. The day before we departed, the second faucet also began to fail. We contacted the owner who indicated that replacement parts were on their way and would be installed shortly after our departure.

In summary, we really enjoyed our stay. We found the property to be restful and a fair value for price. We would recommend this property to other renters.

Awesome A Frame hideaway

  • 5 of 5

We loved this hideaway at the back of the North Shore. The gated property felt safe and the A frame cottage was perfect for a couple with cool retro furnishings making it feel very homely. The bathroom noise does travel though so turn up the radio for privacy beyond a curtain door. Thank you for having us Todd, we will be recommending this.

Amazing house in amazing location

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I returned a week ago from our stay on the north shore, and we couldn't be happier about the house! It felt like our own little retreat in Oahu. I loved having a full kitchen and washer and dryer at my convenience. The upstairs loft bedroom was perfect, and being able to BBQ toped it all off. My only complaint (besides the rain!) was the chainsaws from the landscapers next door cutting down trees. Other than that everything was incredible.

ps: there was a small family pigs running around at night; a little unnerving at first, but after a couple of nights I hardly noticed them.

Perfect 4 Us

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the A-frame for three nights in February when the waves on North Shore were huge. The house was perfect for us and the bed was SO comfortable---made us think about changing to a tempurpedic mattress at home! Clean, quiet and would love to return.

Thank you Todd!

Pupukea Palace

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved this cottage in the hills. The attention to detail inside and outside the house was impeccable- all the furniture, appliances, bedding, etc. meshed perfectly with the architecture of the house. A great escape from the busy beach activity down the hill, you feel like you are in your own private peaceful jungle- banana and papaya trees, cooler temperatures, beautiful birds. Especially loved the surfboard rack in the living room, the outdoor shower, washer and dryer, louvered windows, Hawaiiana quilts and knick knacks, and basically everything else about this A-frame- especially Todd and his baby greeting us with a Papaya! Easy access to all famous North Shore beaches and breaks, Foodland, and, most importantly, Ted's Bakery! Would definitely recommend a stay here. Mahalo Todd!
