The historic Captain Merry Mansions's central tower overlooks the grand Mississippi River and is located in East Dubuque, Illinois. It was built in 1867 and has been restored to it's original magnificent splendor. The Captain Merry offers eight guest rooms, each with its own distinctive decor. There are two half baths and 6 full baths. The mansion also contains 6 working gas fireplaces. The basement has a large oval table perfect for enjoying a meal or hanging out with family and friends. It also contains a large kitchen with ample counter space, plenty of china, glassware, silverware, a stove, and a spacious refrigerator. There is one half bath off of the main area in the basement. The first floor has a large living room and dining room with plenty of room for entertaining. A picture of Captain Charles Merry, the man who built the house, sits over the fireplace mantle overlooking the living room. There is one half bath located on the first floor as well. For an extra fee, if you need more rooms- we do have an additional room known as the "Garden Room" for your booking online. It has one king bed, mini fridge, and en suite luxurious marble bathroom complete with heated floors, large walk in shower and spacious Jacuzzi tub. It's located on the main floor. The second floor has the laundry room that guests are welcome to use Adjacent to that is a cozy little bedroom with a full bed. There are two suites on this floor on either side of the main staircase. One is called the "English Suite" and has two beds (one king and one queen) each on their own separate room but still in the same suite. This suite shares one splendid maybe bathroom which contains heated floor, walk in shower, and 2-person Jacuzzi tub. The second suite is known as the "French Suite" and has two queen beds. These beds are in their own rooms but there are no doors between them; they are separated by a small hallway and another opulent marble bathroom with 2-person Jacuzzi tub, walk in shower, and heated floors. The third floor has the final two suites. The first suite contains two queen beds, and is called the " Mediterranean Suite". These beds are in two separate rooms but there is no door between them, only a hallway and another of our beautiful marble bathrooms. This bathroom has three sections split up by a walk through shower, and a separate 2-person Jacuzzi tub in a private room of of the main bedroom. The final master suite is called the "Egyptian Suite" and has one king bed. The pyramidal shaped ceiling is painted to look like the inside of an Egyptian pyramid. There is a seating area, breakfast table, and another luxurious marble bathroom that has a double sink, large closet with full length mirrors, 2-person Jacuzzi tub, heated floors, and a walk in shower.
