About James Caplinger, Tillie Jamison
James bought the house as a retirement home. BUT he knew that retirement was a long way in the future so he outfitted it like he would like to see it and decided to rent it out so others could enjoy the beauty and peacefulness of Maine. When we met he said he would never be able to see Maine again...as he had lived there as a young man and went to school for college there. This proves him wrong!!
James Caplinger, Tillie Jamison purchased this Cabin in 2005
Why James Caplinger, Tillie Jamison chose Lee
We looked at homes in Vermont and New Hampshire because we thought Maine was totally out of the price range. But Maine is where we both wanted to be. He found this one on his own and I got to pick between two. This one is the winner!
What makes this Cabin unique
Quiet, quiet, quiet!! Not in a subdivision! Lake to look out at one side and woods the other. My kind of living!

Cozy and peaceful
Nice view of the lake. Love listening to the loons! Saw a Bald Eagle almost every day, Otter, and heard an owl across the lake. Thanks!
Lovely home by the lake
Our family had a wonderful time at this lovely home by the lake. Although the weather wasn’t conducive to some of our outdoor plans during our trip, we certainly didn’t run out of things to do. The house was packed with things to keep us entertained. There were movies, games, books, a foosball table, and even toys for the dogs! The owners were so very thoughtful in making sure the house was prepared with everything a family could possibly need during a visit, and we were so grateful for that. The area where the house is located is simply beautiful, and we hope to visit again soon.
Thank you for the kind words! I'm so happy you were able to enjoy even though the weather was less than perfect. We definitely do want to do our best to have a cozy environment for ors guests :)
Wonderful lake front property!
Very nice house on lake with everything for your family, including your furry ones, to enjoy a great vacation!
Our dogs loved having such a dog friendly place and we loved it also,
Best place ever for dogs, dog beds everywhere, lots of toys and great yard for play! The cabin had everything we humans needed !
Beautiful and Accommodating
Not only is this property beautiful and well kept, but the owners are very accommodating. There were notes left all over the property to help us with any questions we might have. The place was well kept and perfect for what we needed. Our dogs had a blast playing in the water and exploring the area; it was a very big plus that they were welcome. We had a campfire each night in the pit, and were very thankful that the owners left us a bundle of wood. Not much for night life, there was one restaurant in Lincoln for dinner (although it looks like another is being built and will be available soon), a breakfast place, and a few fast food restaurants; but there is a Hannaford's and anything you might need to cook at home and eat in. We also tried Harris Family Takeout, right in Lee and it was delicious! We were also very lucky and had perfect weather. We'd love to come back in the future!
Wonderful retreat getaway!
My daughter, pooch and I had a grand old time on Silver Lake. Everything we could have wanted we found...with delighted surprises too...like the frosted mugs in the freezer. We indulged in a root beer float or two as the power of suggestion was too hard to resist. Our dog was tickled with the dog beds and we felt like we were home away from home. Was really nice! Only downside was the front porch light was out our first night...wouldn’t have been that bad had we not been there to explore Stephen Kings haunts in Bangor. Lol. Was easy to replace bulb though. No problem. Thank you for letting us share your home and for all the extras down to the “just in case” skunk removal recipe. Didn’t need it but was good to have.
Lee and Silver Lake in Maine are 45 minutes from Bangor, two hours from Acadia State Park and Bar Harbor, and about an hour drive to Baxter State Park home of Mt. Katahdin. There are snowmobile trails behind the house as well as ATV. Plenty to see in both Bangor and Bar Harbor and in between. In the winter the cabin is about 3 miles from a ski slope for $20/day and in the summer just a couple more miles to the beach outside of Lee. If you like boating you may bring your own to put in at Lee and dock at the cabin or take the canoe for a tool about the lake and surrounding areas. Or perhaps a day trip to Canada which is only an hour away.
