Home from home
We had a brilliant week at Honeysuckle Cottage. Ideal dog friendly base for visiting Cotswolds area.
Lovely walks and pubs close by.
Beautiful cosy cottage....didn’t want to come home!
Would definitely recommend.
Lovely class 2 restored cottage.
Cosy. Perfect. Peaceful.
If you want a break away from it all, Honeysuckle Cottage is the place for you. It has bags full of character and you feel at home the moment you step through the door. Perfect for dogs and humans alike. There are a myriad of footpaths literally on your doorstep that lead to welcoming villages and interesting pubs. In the dimpsy evenings you return to a light-free and noise-free time - apart from the passing of a barn owl - and the mornings are tranquil with lack of car movements and only a babble of bird chatter. You can’t beat it!
Very special and lovely cottage in a beautiful environment!
We had a delightful two-night stay with our two girls ages 11 and 12 at this most lovely cottage. What a very special place. We loved every minute there. The cottage is hundreds of years old – and has loads old charm combined with contemporary touches. The surroundings are beautiful. There are lots of walking paths and two villages with nice pubs for dining within walking distance. Wonderfully stocked with all you could need -- and delicious linens! Rachel and Mike are fabulous – friendly and happy to answer any questions. Our girls enjoyed the pool, the nearby animals, adventurous walks, and their own room. We hope to return and recommend this cottage and its environs most highly!
Lovely cottage and great hosts in Mike and Rachel, they made us feel very welcome. Would definately stay their again and recommend to others to stay.
Gorgeous little cottage
Perfect for a family of 4 plus a dog. Plenty of walks to do, both from the cottage into the surrounding area and to the local pub (great food), and also a short drive to Lechlade and surrounding areas for beautiful countryside walks. Very useful walking guides provided in the cottage. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Great to have use of their pool for our one day of sunshine! Nice enclosed garden with BBQ. The rest of the cottage was well equipped and comfortable. Would definitely return.
The cottage is on a quiet no-through lane leading down to the River Leach from where there are numerous lovely walks, along the river, across farmland or through woodland from the doorstep. All walks can take in one of our lovely local pubs, which have roaring log fires and excellent food. Our local pub, The Swan at Southrop, has a fantastic restaurant, lovely bar and is just a stagger away!
The Cotswold Wildlife Park is under ten minutes away by car and is a great place to explore. Take the kids into the adventure playground, on a ride around the park on the old steam train, and of course view all the animals!
The cottage is also in the region of the Cotswold Water Park, which is awash with opportunities for fantastic photography, from superb sunsets to ripples and reflections, not to mention the wonderful array of wildlife. In addition, there are numerous opportunities for water sports. Have a go at cable-skiing, go crazy with some friends on a large inflatable banana, or if you prefer something more peaceful, try windsurfing, sailing, or kayaking – tuition is available for all of these activities.
There are a number of beautiful old Cotswold market towns to explore too. Why not visit Cirencester (the second largest town in Roman times) to explore the history, coffee shops and lovely boutiques. Cirencester's market square is dominated by the cathedral-like Parish Church of St. John Baptist (one of the largest in England), where local markets happen every Monday and Friday. Alternatively, visit Burford (10 mins drive), a beautiful old Cotswold town, with a High Street sloping from the high Wolds, where you have beautiful views over the open countryside, down to the willow fringed River Windrush in the pretty Windrush valley. A fine three arched medieval bridge crosses the river at the foot of the hill.
If you enjoy visiting some of our fantastic period houses, then Kelmscot Manor, home of William Morris and all things Arts & Crafts, is within ten minutes drive. Kelmscot also has an amazing local pub, The Plough, that serves wonderful food either in the sunny garden or cozy restaurant. Plus, we have Buscot Manor and Blenheim on the doorstep.
