Lovely stay in brilliantly placed cottage
Lovely stay in brilliantly placed cottage. Paula was very helpful in local places to visit.
We had a lovely stay at Apple Cottage, Paula was very welcoming. the cottage was spotless clean, very relaxing holiday
Lovely, relaxing stay.
Paula was kind in accommodating us for three nights, with short notice. She was very friendly and generous and made sure that we had all we needed, without being intrusive. We loved the cottage and its beautiful, bird-friendly garden with interesting features. It is also a good base for visiting National Botanic Garden of Wales, Gower peninsula and Brecon Beacons.
Just what we needed, loved the walks. We saw deer, nd the falls. Lovely and quiet
A great pleasure to meet this lovely couple. Katherine and Adrian were perfect guests.
nice looking cottage
We definitely liked our stay in Wales, the cottage looked very nice.
Of course it's an old cottage, not for tall people, but that's not really a problem. Some negative points we experienced unfortunately were the beds - the matresses were really much too soft and the bed was quite narrow. This could be a personal taste. Which does not apply to the toilet - hard to flush and a loose seat. We missed a normal table to sit at and have our meals, the shower doors are quite tricky, the lights downstairs were not meant for reading and a bedside table was not available, although you can easily use one of the drawers. If you're having your meals in the cottage and prepare them as well, you might miss some utensils, and you definitely need to wash up a lot, there's not too many of those. Sitting in the kitchen is not that enjoyable, next to each other - as is sitting in the living room which has no table. In the garden you can sit - we had great weather - but the bench is quite narrow and we are certainly not that big. A long meal in the garden literally is a pain in the ass......In short : the cottage looked great, but the practical use we found rather limited.
Finally, the owner forgot to send us the code we needed to enter the cottage, and the phone was not on when I phoned the number given. Fortunately that turned out alright, since after ten minues waiting Paula arrived and let us in.
All in all, a little more care towards practical use would not be amiss.
I'm very sorry that Niek feels his stay at Apple cottage was not an enjoyable one. Had he read the cottage description and paid better attention to the photos before booking his disappointment would have been avoided. Some of his comments have however perhaps unintentionally made me see the funny side of this review.
Apple cottage is situated at the foot of the Brecon Beacons national park boundary. Within a 14 mile radius you have the mountains to explore as well as the waterfall areas, forest walks and the Gower Coast as well as the city of Swansea and market town of Llandeilo.
