Mother/Daughters weekend

  • 5 of 5

My Mom and my four sisters had our annual YaYa weekend here on Lake Bomoseen. The place was perfect, great views, very comfortable house, and quiet area. Hope to be back soon

Beautiful lakeside cottage

  • 5 of 5

My family totally enjoyed our stay on Lake Bomoseen at this delightful cottage. The house itself was very nice, providing everything needed for a restful vacation. The location is very private and quiet. The dock was more than adequate for fishing, swimming and mooring our boat. The deck, screened porch and other outdoor areas added to our experience. Our dogs loved swimming in the lake and trying, without success, to reach the ducks who stayed safely beyond their reach! I would recommend this home to anyone seeking a quiet location to enjoy this wonderful lake.

Perfect spot to relax & read on the lake!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful week last week. This is such a sunny, private, perfect spot on the lake. Early morning sun = perfect spot for coffee on the deck. There are 4 areas of sitting outside ... the deck, next layer down has a patio and fire pit, next layer down in the grass along the lake with the shade of a birch tree, and then the dock of course. The living area was perfect for 4 of us - nice kitchen and living area, 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom. Love that there was a gas grill and wood provided to get us started. We all relaxed, went out on the rental boat (my sister and her family literally across the lake from us so we could zip back and forth.) The owner, Bob, is very easily accessible and attentive to questions, assistance if we needed it. We were able to add in a pet rider and bring our dog. We were very strict - kept him off furniture, he stayed in his crate at night, very well behaved and quiet with us during the day. Just added to the perfect vacation experience. Plenty of fans to keep us cool... literally grieving that our week is over. Definitely recommend staying here and look forward to going back! There was a lot of weeds/grass in the lake this year, but it didn't deter us! Thank you for a great week!

Lake house

  • 3 of 5

Over all I enjoyed the property . I was disappointed that it is advertised as having direct access to swimming and this was not the case. There is a large amount of seaweed around the dock area and on that entire end of the lake making swimming impossible. The lawn areas were very nice and the patio has a great view. The screened porch is quite small and not able to hold more than 3 people at once.

Owner's Response: The weed issue is being addressed by the association and owners and there will be improvements before next swimming season.

4th of July Family Vacation

  • 3 of 5

We stayed here this past 4th of July 2017, my husband, my in-laws, and myself. We've been staying on lake Bomoseen for the past 15 summers, and this was the first time we'd rented a new place (we alternate between two other places on the east side of the lake), so my husband was sure to do a LOT of research prior to booking.

The first and most disappointing thing we noticed about the rental was that although they advertised a dock with a "rocky bottom" that was good for fishing, and swimming (which was the primary reason we chose this location) but it was completely overrun by milfoil. There was no way anyone could have swam there. We spent the entire day on the 4th of July cleaning up an area around the dock just so we could jump in and cool off.

That was the main negative. This side of the lake is a lot calmer, there's less boat traffic than the east side so we brought our canoe and went out almost every day. The house itself was nice and as advertised, very clean with all the kitchen items we needed and was nicer than your average camp kitchen, and both of the main bedrooms were on opposite sides of the house, which gave privacy (bring your own sheets and towels, as advertised). The bathroom had been remodeled and was way nicer than we expected for a "camp bathroom", but was toilet leaking the day we got there (we managed to fix it but to be fair, the owner lives across the lake, if it had been worse we probably could have reached him). The house had cable and wifi, both worked great.

There was tons of wildlife, (we would have liked a camp journal so we could have recorded it all!), but we saw everything from deer to Baltimore Orioles.

It was easy to get to, but the parking situation was less than ideal if you have more than one car.

There are neighbors very close on both sides, but they kept very much to themselves and never bothered us.

If you're not looking to swim, and you have your own canoes or kayaks, this place could work for you. The milfoil situation pretty much ruined it for us. We paid a higher price than other places because we thought we'd be able to swim. And we did, but only after we spent a day doing clean up. If you do stay here, make sure to inquire as to how recently the owners have cleaned up the dock area.

Owner's Response: There were more weeds near the dock than in typical years. The Association has hired a harvesting company which has started cleaning up weeds as of mid August 2017. They seem to be doing a great job in this portion of the lake and in front of the house.
