Location-very quiet but very atmospheric and seconds away from beautiful river walks. On maps, it looks as though it is right next to the town, but in fact you'd never even know the town is there.
We really liked how the restoration had been done- still old fashioned, still able to see the original layout and functions, much of the furniture of its period-but the bits that mattered up to date, so comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen and good showers.
Very helpful caretaker/rep.

The accomodation was 'quirky' as promised on the website - really interesting being next to the mill and the river. Very comfortable to use as a base when we were out most days and evenings.

The location was excellent. Lovely to have Lyme Park a ten minute drive away. It was very easy to get into Manchester by train. The Peaks were really close too. Just 15 minutes or so to Mam Tor.
Rob was really nice - a very pleasant and friendly chap. He was very helpful returning a left behind item.
It was a quirky place to stay with an interesting history.
Great having river and canal walks from the door.

Region: The ultimate in "year-round" appeal, the Peak District offers countryside, picturesque villages and magnificent scenery. It touches upon six counties and encloses 555 square miles of open moorland, flowing rivers, and wooded dales.
Town: Situated on the borders of North West Derbyshire and Cheshire is the small town of New Mills, forming part of the Derbyshire Peak District. Although the settlement dates back to the 13th Century, the late 20th Century saw the Torrs Riverside Park, often called 'the park under the town' - come into being as a place for recreation and relaxation. To promote tourism in the area, the New Mills Heritage Centre was opened and visitors can enjoy this as well as The Torrs Millennium Walkway, a much-admired bridge set deep within the gorge. Just five miles away is Chapel en le Frith - the Capital of the Peaks - that boasts a cobbled market place complete with historic old stocks. The spa town of Buxton is within easy driving distance and is famous not only for its therapeutic spring water but also for its Pavillion Gardens and splendid Victorian Opera House.
